1968 Dodge Dart Additional Info:

Attention Mopar fans, here's your chance at one of the best lightweight muscle machines of the 1960s. This 1968 Dodge Dart GTS was not only born with this lemony yellow color, but also the big block 383 V8. And this car still carries both features today! That means rarity, distinction, and tons of power are up for grabs right now.The Dart has always been the blocky looking bad boy. The bodywork on this one has remained straight and angular after all these decades, and the finely creased sheetmetal is far more clutter-free than its contemporaries. This clean look and a professional refresh of the factory-correct yellow paint means you can see those important GTS badges from across the show field. Plus, the bright yellow is the perfect canvas for the more aggressive darker elements like the rear sports stripe package. But this doesn't mean the brightwork can't be aggressive, too. Just look at the Rallye wheel package and those hood vents...That's pure intimidation. The exterior black stripes are a great introduction to the black vinyl interior. It's ultra-clean inside, and so it's obvious that someone who really loved this car was in charge of its maintenance (also important for the first impression.) A muscle coupe like this deserves a deep black interior, and since it was changed over to this color later in life, everything feels far fresher than from the 1960s. The full midnight package coordinates nicely with the carpets, dash, and the door panels that have the proper GTS badging. The sea of darkness is broken up by the bright center console that runs in-between the bucket seats and really sets off the interior. Plus, there's plenty of distinction on other bright features like the original heat/defrost controls, ultra-wide factory gauge package, and the inner ring of the large factory steering wheel. When you open the hood, you'll love seeing the big V8 greet you with the bold air topper that announces it's an extraordinary Mopar. You already know that Dodge made less vehicles than Ford or Chevy, and even fewer people were willing to pay the premium for the Dart GTS. And on top that, there were a scarce few who would add the 383 cubic-inch V8 option. That's why this is a low-numbers coupe. That's the way it was ordered from the factory, and so we are quite happy to still have that displacement under the hood today. But more than just a distinctive history, you want this Dart for its pure power. The V8 has a four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake give you an extra wallop of power, and the dual exhaust lets them all know there is some real muscle behind this yellow machine. On the road, the Torqueflite three-speed automatic transmission has that perfect balance of easy cruising for the everyday, and reliable performance when you want to hammer the big V8. Plus, the front disc brakes and BF Goodrich T/As are part of the whole package that's setup to make sure the driver stays connected to the road. The monster motor is what attracted you to this one, but it's the details (right down to the factory decals) that really seal the deal. You're looking at a rare Mopar that's turn-key ready to turn heads. Don't miss out, call today!
