$10,000 for this old van? NO OF COURSE NOT! An interested buyer cannot see the van until Thursday and I have upped the price so that no one will buy it before he can see in person. If he does not buy it, i will lower the price back down.If you are interested contactwith any questions.
This is my"work in progress" Hilti-Racing theme van.
see more photos on facebookpage "The Hilti Van"
The van is anv ex Hilti fastner van from California.
The van will leave on aset ofplain used, likely steel, wheels and 7used temporary tires for $4400, and not yet installed sidepipes. The slot mags and wheels are not included and are not a set that is not available with the van. any 15x8 and 15x10 set of wheels will look great on it. The van can be shipped with a set of DVWs and tires for a bit more, but it is likely you would want to pic your own wheels for it - and likely a setthat did not cost so much.
After buying it (see pictures frombefore flares) from a 75 year old previous owner I did not know it was previously a Hilti work van. It did have a carpeted interior when I bought it that I had to completely strip out. So it was a likely a dual purpose work and weekender van. The owner had bought the van 10 years earlier planning to redo the van but never did. It just sat until I had went to the mans house to buy some old wheels to restore. I took the wheels and the van.
I first put some oil over the paint to see what color it was original and the orange turned a reddish-orange color seen in the photos. I ordered the flares and visor from Kurk and Customvan.com andam very happy with the classic 70s look of the set.
The van has a dent on passenger rear quarter so the flare doesn't quite match up perfect. And the whole point of this van is not perfect. If I had a ton of loot I would do it all up, but I do not, I have awesome wheels, so you see it with awesome wheels, Kurk's flares and a rattle can paint job on the hood to flow with the flares. I like the look of the van now, faded paint as if it wascustomized in the 70s, not last fall.
The 360 sports some headers but a 2bbl.It starts up and runs great but smokes bad and I can hear some lifters ticking away pretty loudly. I have let it run for a few moments hoping it would clear out, it did not.needs a valve job and probably a basic rebuild. I started it using a gas gan instead of the fuel tank. All the bad fuel has since been drained from the tank. the tank is clean inside but the sock on the pick up unit needs to be replaced.
The trans I assume is ok, I never dropped it in gear. The side pipes shown in one photo are not yet installed but are included.
There is A-piler rust and drip rail rust around the rear doors. The underbody, rockers, quarters have no rust at all, not at body seams or bubbles or anything.
I do need to sell or want to sell it really. However it will likelybe at least a year before I swap drivetrain for something more fun.Maybe you have a drivetrain sitting around for it and can give it a new home. Otherwise it can continue to wait for its time.
The roof vent is new, but will need to beinstalled permanently. Thedoors all open and closegood, but the weatherstripis all dried outthey do not shut with a air tight seal. the window tracks are pretty near the end but additional tracks are included in a box of various parts. Thevan will need to be towed to its next home.
