1948 Dodge Ram 1500 Additional Info:

1948 Dodge model B Lighthouse pickup truck. This has been parked in my yard for 33 years! I had ideas about building a rat rod and even bought a wrecked 80 model short wheel base powerwagon to go with it. Both vehicles are offered together here in this listing.
I will tell you about the '48 first.
The body is fairly straight, no real rust damage, certainly no cancer. It has a damaged left rear fender and some minor damage here and there but otherwise it would not be a huge effort to clean it up. Engine and Tranny were gone when I acquired the truck about 33 years ago, Front axel was bad, I pulled it off and scrapped it. The doors open and close OK, the sheet metal is good, interior upholstery shot but bench seat frame and springs in good shape. The corner windows in the cab are in good shape, all the flat glass could be replaced at nominal cost but it is not all bad. All in all, as a rat rod project, this is a pretty good bone to start with. It has a clear title.
The 80 power wagon, Came from California, I bought it about 10 years ago from an ebay seller. Drove up to Northern Cal and loaded it on a trailer and hauled her home. The seller "could not find the title" but promised to send it later... well, about 4 or 5 years later after several phone calls I filed for title here and got an Arizona salvage title on it, so, it has a clear albeit branded title. I drove this truck around here in the desert on the back roads quite a bit, it ran real good but eventually I stopped driving it, mainly because the brakes needed work and I did not want to "fix" something I was planning to tear down and rebuild for a rat rod. The engine is 318, automatic trans, four wheel drive, all running gear and steering was in fair condition last driven, engine never gave much trouble, cooling system working ok, with antifreeze, no serious oil leaks, etc. This truck is from Northern Cal but is not cancered out, bones are good.
I took several measurements and did some calculating and believe that this is almost a natural cross breed situation, the wheel base is within an inch of what it is supposed to be and in my opinion you won't even have to butcher the bottom of or firewall of the cab of the 48 to fit it on the 80 chassis. It will be necessary of course to fit up some body supports but when the two frames are side by side it should be really easy to figure out.
So, my first offering here is for both trucks as a package hot rod project. I will entertain offers on either separate from the double listing but will not straight up accept an offer on one unless someone has made an offer on the other, if you are interested in either, let me know and I will put you on the list. This store listing will not continue past 30 days or two successful offers on the components, of course, someone could always press "buy it now" and have them both!
'Nuff said, if you want to build a 4 wheel drive Mopar rat rod pickup, this is a terrific starting point. These two trucks are offered AS-IS-WHERE-IS!we can arrange shipping up to 500 mile radius but it will cost something, best to haul 'em yourself!
