1966 Dodge Charger Additional Info:
I purchased this car in October, 011 as a running, riving survivor car with no evidence of rust or rust repair in need of mechanical freshening. Already owning a "trailer queen", y intent with this car was to enjoy actually driving a well-sorted Hemi. The car was delivered to widely respected Hemi expert Larry Shepard of Akron, H with the request to inspect all the mechanicals and restore them to 100%.
The 426 Hemi, arburetors, orqueflite transmission and rear end have been remanufactured. Brakes and suspension have been restored and many other worn parts, or example the heater core, eplaced. The exhaust system includes headers and electrically operated cut outs for fun.The original exhaust manifolds have been retainedso the exhaust system can be returned to factory. The interior and trunk have been completely restored including seat covers, arpet and trim pieces. In addition, nterior panels and the headliner have been refinished. The electroluminescent dash (a common problem) has been restored and the gauges work, s does the radio and clock. The rotating headlight assembly, nother common malfunctioning feature, as been restored to function. Receipts and photos have been collected to document. The body of this car is as solid as could be with no rust at all. The car was repainted at some point in the past. While presentable, feel more prep work should have been performed prior to the respray. I have driven the car about 1500 miles since restoration.
This is a factory Hemi car, ut the engine and transmission are not original to the car. On the block, he pad next to the distributor is blank and the stamping next to the oil pan reads 9 29 66. I was told it is a warranty block. The fender tag is present and reads "73" under the "AB" and 5 under the "C". As for authenticity, have no doubt it is an original Hemi car but I have not checked to see if it is in the registry (call Galen's Tag Service if you want). Frankly, he car is not valuable enough tobother fakingbut for what it is worth, his is a genuine factory Hemi car! Serious buyers may call Larry Shepard as I spoke to him recently and he was kind enough to advise me he would field questions about the car (please be respectful of his time!).
I drive this car whenever the mood strikes and it really does not require any concessions. Fill it up with 93 octane and go! It is a strong runner, nlike many. My automotive interests have evolved into road racing so it is offered for sale.
