1978 Dodge Other Pickups Lil Red Express Additional Info:
1978 was the last year light trucks were exempt from pollution controls that had robbed the muscle cars of there performance. So Dodge decided it was going to create one of North America's last factory "Hot Rods". The Li'l Red Truck was pretty wild appearance wis, with chrome wheels mounted with fat tires, bright red paint, dual exhaust stacks and a rakish stance. If you wanted something to have people looking at you this was the truck. Under the hood was a 360 cu. in. police engine without all the smog control that had choked the horsepower from passenger cars. A dual snorkel air cleaner inhaled fresh air to feed a large 850 cfm ThermoQuad carb. Along with the free flowing 2 1/2" chrome stacks the special engine and transmission produced horespowe to the rear wheels with a roar.Records show tere were only 2188 LRT's produced in 1978.
