Thank you for your interest in my beloved truck that I have owned since 1986. My love for Power Wagons began in the mid 50's, rowing up in rural Colorado, hen these trucks were truly necessary to complete difficult chores over challenging terrain. I bought my first Power Wagon when I was just 13 years old, or around one hundred dollars. In Colorado, s in some other states at the time, rivers licenses were granted to kids as young as 14 years old, o that they could haul feed, ivestock, nd contribute to the family farming and ranching operations. My 1946 had lived a typical life for these trucks, ith the battle scars to show for it. It needed a fair amount of work to get it going, ut this didn't bother me, s I was pretty handy with a wrench at a young age, nd I knew I could have it going by the time my license was valid! That first non-running truck was hauled home by my pal's draft horse, ith the reins being controlled through the tilt-out windshield (I wish I had a smart phone with a camera then to prove it, ike every other 13 year old now)! After many years of service, ncluding getting me back and forth to high school in Castle Rock, hat loyal friend was sold when I departed to serve in the US Army.Many years later, ever forgetting that initial friendship, was lucky enough to become the second owner of this truck. Since new, t served as an electrical utility rig in the southern Colorado town of Walsenburg. It didn't look as it does now, ut after a couple of years of work with my son, e had a specimen that was not only reliable, ut one we were proud to show off. We were lucky enough to start with a low mileage (approx. 44K), ust-free, estern vehicle, ith only minor dents to prove it had earned its keep.
To be clear, his truck was restored well over 20 years ago. It has since been lovingly maintained and stored indoors, ut it has also been used and driven, ith some scratches and minor dings visible. Details on the condition of the truck, nd the work done, re as follows;
  • The engine in the truck is not original. It is a flat-head six from a Chrysler car. It was rebuilt and painted GM Alpine Green, ecause we liked the look of that color at the time. It starts easily, uns smoothly, nd does not smoke or burn oil. Approximately 6,000 miles have been put on this truck since it was restored. The original engine (T13711611), hich would need to be rebuilt, s included and will be packaged in a sturdy case.
  • Original 4-speed, on-synchronized transmission, nd 2-speed transfer case.
  • The clutch was replaced, s well as the transfer case mounts and bushings.
  • The tires are weather-checked, ut the tread depth is good. All tires hold air.
  • Bed wood is original, o rot.
  • The truck carried a bed-mounted ladder in its early life, hich dented the roof. Body filler was used to smooth the bumped-out metal, ut it has since shrunk and cracked.
  • The exterior was repainted the original color; the interior and engine compartment paint is completely original, ot repainted. Paint is in good condition, ut has some scratches and chips.
  • Non-original tailgate chains
  • The door emblem is an accurate vinyl reproduction of what was originally painted on the doors.
  • Key unlocks passenger side door lock
  • Has rare, actory Mopar model 36 heater and controls
  • Dial fell off speedo, hich is common on these trucks. Repair part is readily available through aftermarket. Speedometer and odometer are operational, long with other gauges.
  • Upholstery in good condition
  • Headliner in fair condition
  • 1940's trailer socket mounted on rear cross member, nternal terminals available upon request.

  • My Colorado title has the original engine serial number as the VIN. I don't know why, ut this was common practice on older vehicles in this state. I can provide a signed statement upon request. The T137 number is shown in the photo of the original engine block.

In conclusion, his truck is a rust-free example of a survivor, nd was not "over-restored." Its mechanical components were gone through to provide reliable service. The body was gently bumped and massaged so that a new coat of paint would gleam and catch your eye. If you were to transport yourself back to the early 50's, his is what a well-cared-for, ut daily-worked Power Wagon might look like. From this owners perspective, t's the kind of truck you can jump in and drive to the lumber yard to pick up supplies for your deck makeover, r cruise to your towns Saturday car show. No matter how ya look at it, his classic brute is comfortable in its own skin, nd is ready to take its new owner on any adventure they choose.
