You have barn finds and then there are special barn finds like finding a 1954 Corvette or a really rare Porsche. What I have here is the last yearof theB Body Coronet Moparand the lastof the Mopar muscle car convertible as we know it.
Stored away since June 1994 was this 1970 Dodge R/T Yellow Convertible 100% complete. Upon negotiating a price. This very rare car was truly mine. It took a very skilled and experienced car carrier toretrievethecar andget my prize home for me.
After a thorough inspection of the car, I had to have keys made for all the locks. I decided to purchase a new gas tank andsending unit and seals before proceeding any further. The interior was in reasonably good shape. Only the driver's seat would need repairing I found out, after removing the sheepskins.
The floors and the frame rails are totally solid. The only area of serious rust is both rear lower quarters. There are rusty spots that are fairly superficial around the car. The trunk floor has a bit of rust, but not by any means all rusted out. After installing the new gas tank and changing the fluids, the car started and ran with only a small amount of gasoline needed to be poured in the carburetor when first turned over, and thenwas running on its own. New brake hoses were installed. So now we have a running and lot driving car.
This Coronet should have a total restoration to be put in someone's collection I do not have the money it costs to do this car right. It is only one of 203 ever made. Along with that is a high impact color andoriginally came with A/C. I have the fender tag and maybe the build sheet is some where in the car. The motor is a non-numbers matching 1970 440 this car is a part of Mopar history.
