1955 Desoto Firedome Coupe

Complete Desoto Firedome coupe with the Sportsman trim. Engine is the 291 Baby Hemi with the 2 bbl carb and a two speed automatic.Engine runs smooth once you get it started.HasPower Steering and Power brakes. Runs and lot drives but needs a carb kit. Brakes do not function, ut it can be stopped with the emergency brake at slow speeds. Mileage is unknown. This is a project car so don't plan to jump in it and drive it home. Hard to find them complete anymore. This one has the original red and white paint so you can clearly see the condition. Does not appear to have been painted so no visable bondo. There are dings and some dents here and there which is pretty typical for these old cars. Chrome is all there, ut some has the usualpitting. Glass isgood except for passenger door glass which iscracked.

All of these old cars have rust. The Ebayer I bought this car from indicated this car was relatively rust free! Well, his one has rust through in the passenger floorboard and the body mount below the floor likely from the windshield leaking. There was a rubber mat over the floorboard when I got it. This part of the floor will need patched.Rearfloor and trunk do not show any rust through. Some work by aprior owner has been done on the driver floorboard and rocker panel. There is some rust in thelower rear fendersand above the rear wheel wells.All of the rust is repairable without installing new panels. There are four original hubcaps in the trunk that likely came with the car. Driver quality with some minor dings.

Interior is complete but needs attention. Not sure if the seat covers are original, ut they appear to be. Driver sitting are is wallowed out to the foam. Dash chrome all there but there is some pitting. Gauges work as do the lights and turn signals. Wipers work and the radio hums but does not seem able to lock on to an AM station. I have a complete '56 Chrysler 331 Hemi available separately.The 331, 54, 92 Hemi parts are more plentiful sometimes than for the Desoto Baby Hemi motors.

I have tried to represent this car accurately, ut one must understand this is a 60 year old car and you will probably find more gremlins that I have as you sort this car out. It is extremely difficult to find these old Desotos in original complete condition and it was my intention to restore it. Unfortunately things change and I need to sell it.
