1950 DeSoto Custom Additional Info:
The car is basically stock and being from New Mexico there is no rust. The engine is a 236 cubic inch flat head six with a 4-speed transmission. The car has fluid drive (tip toe shift), which involves having a clutch and a torque converter. You have two ranges, low and high. You use the clutch to start the car and to shift into low or high range. After you get under motion it drives like a automatic. Start in low range, let off the gas and automatically shifts into second, then use the clutch to shift into high range. The engine has less than 500 miles on a complete rebuild. This included .40 over pistons, new bearings and valves plus shaving the head .70 thousands. The points have been replaced with a pertronix unit and flame thrower coil. All new engine and transmission mounts. The car has a heater only. As you can see in the pictures the paint has some imperfections due to older restoration. The interior was completely redone. The car drives and stops well. I have received many awards at car shows. I do have a sun visor for the car which was not installed and is painted green which was the original color.
