1951 DeSoto Custom Dodge Chrysler Vintage Cruiser Additional Info:
Super sweet one owner 1951 Desoto Sedan fresh from long term indoor storage. This car was stored away in a 110 year old barn by a gentleman farmer before passing onto greener pastures back around 2001 here in California. If your looking for a one owner, low mileage, 65 year old classic that runs and drives and has no rust and has clean California paperwork for most likely less than 1/2 the price other cars out there, then this is the car for you! This sweet cruiser has less than 47k by the speedometer and most likely true as the condition of the car is nice and the farmer had lots of other cars he was driving. Dash erea looks great and all its gauges work except for the temp and alt gauges, so he installed an after market pair under the dash. All lights work including doom and headlights. interior is complete and still decent with the front seat needing a recover or a bench cover to make it nicer. Rear seat is fine, door panels and headliner are good to. Glass is good on this car. The body is super straight and has only mild surface patina rust is starting. This happened while it was stored away in a barn (yes, a real barn find car) and the roof leaked on the front half, giving it that interesting, yet cool faded look. The original blue coupl old easily be painted back, but it looks good that way so we left it. Bumpers are also straight, front one could use some cleanup. Had the car up on a hoist and could not find any rust, nice and solid under side. Checked and adjusted the brakes and those work great and didn't have any leaks. Stops really good, no fade from drive. Flat head suix runs smooth and pretty quiet for an older engine. Sold isn't see any leaks, so it will probably need some cleaning to make it look nicer. This has the very popular Fluid Drive transmission. These transmission are like a manual automatic trans, easy to use and learn with and very fun on long road trips. smooth shifts and really do make these cars speed up pretty quick! Checked the rubbers and fluid and those look to be in good condition still. Don't see any leaks and the radiator does not look plugged or bad. Tires are older, but are holding are and look like they will make it for the drive home if you live nearby. This car is in such good running condition, even the "Roadkill" guys couldn't mess This car up! This car will need a battery, currently has a optima 12 volt with 2 dead cells so we can jump the battery to work with the 6 volt system. Enjoy the rest of summer in this old school classic.
