1981 Delorean, 5 speed, black interior, heavily updated

Vehicle Details

A very clean and heavily updated Delorean. It is a September 81 build with a 5 speed manual and black interior. Over $12000 in parts receipts over the last three years. Almost every system has be updated or completely rebuilt. Have driven just under 5000 miles since October 2020.

- restored original rear fascia

- new suspension, Delorean Europe springs/shocks, highest quality British lower ball joints, Delorean Northwest sway bar bushing kit

- new brake master cylinder

- new Valeo clutch/throwout bearing kit

- new DPI/ Wilwood clutch hydraulics kit

- axles/cv’s rebuilt with new boots/hardware

- wheels refinished with new tires

- new fiberglass headliner kit from DMCH

- new Continental Bluetooth radio

- new door struts and strut mount reinforcement kit installed

- complete fuel system rebuild - new Delphi fuel pump kit, fuel filter, fuel distributor rebuilt, new DPI fuel lines, all new fuel injectors.

- new fuel accumulator

- almost every bolt pulled was replaced with new stainless hardware when available

- new custom catalytic converter

- water pump rebuild

- all coolant hoses replaced with full DPI Silicone kit

- new starter

- new high output alternator

- new oil pressure sensor

- LED tail light boards

- replaced crumbling side marker lens trims and all marker bulbs replaced with LED

- new window/defroster buttons

- new coil and spare new Bosch coil

- new DeloreanGo coil/electrical cover

- replaced failing pickup coil in distributor

- new distributor cap/rotor/plug wires

- extensive hardware replating in the engine bay, all parts properly replated in yellow cadmium for an original factory finish, but better corrosion resistance than the factory zinc plating

- roof box stabilization bolts installed

- torsion bar adjustment

- new steering column and firewall bushing

- exhaust manifolds surfaced and blasted and painted with POR15 high temp paint

- new stainless exhaust manifold studs and brass nuts from DeloreanGo. Will never be corroded/rusted together again.

- muffler cleaned and painted in POR15 high temp paint. Tips polished appropriately.

- new belts with spares

- AC converted to R134A, blows very cold

- new metal/glass Hella/Porsche dome light

- cup holders added to center console with original tray included

- engine cover prop rod replaced with louver hook (safer/less damaging to the engine cover)

- new Delorean Go floor mats and trunk mat

Many other parts replaced or repaired but too many to list. Very little left to be updated or repaired to make it a perfect car. Only noticeable wear would be seat covers, which are not original anyway. One of the few updates left I would have done in the near future. Almost every wear item or common failure of these cars has been addressed. Take off parts will be included with the car to verify replacement. Other spare new parts will be included.
