We sell all cars as-is, which means the buyer isresponsible for any and all repairs, according to the Ohio Buyer’s Guide (includes body, mechanical, frame and interior). We do our best to describe all vehicles as accurately as possible, but keep in mind that opinions may differ and that it’sthe buyer’s responsibility to inspect the car before bidding. We advise all bidders to get a third party to check out the vehicle if they can’t make it out themselves to ensure their complete satisfaction. This must be done before bidding. When you view the pictures of the vehicle, make sure you look at them on a large screen to ensure that you can see all attributes of the car.
If the car starts and runs onto the truck, but it does not start at arrival, that is the buyer’s responsibility (cars may be damaged on a long, bouncy trip). Once the car is paid for, all buyers should put insurance on the vehicle because they now own it. We will work with your shipper or you can call Mike, our shipper, for a rate at 781-763-7447 Ext. 208. We leave all buyers positive feedback. All sales are final. All deposits are non-refundable, so please make sure you know exactly what you're buying before you bid. Our shipper will get the car to you within 4 days to 2 weeks at a fair price. If you'd like to call him for a price, that would be fine.
All cars left on our lot after 30 days will be charged $18 a day and we hope we never have to collect a dime. But we don't have enough space to store everyone's car after they're paid for. It's the buyer's responsibility to pick up their car that they just purchased. Please remember we are on the buyer's side. Please only bid if you are a real bidder who wants to purchase the vehicle, and again, if you haven't purchased 3 items over the last 3 months we will remove your bid. If you're a zero bidder and you bid at the last second just before the auction ends, the vehicle will be offered to the bidder before you and you will not end up with the vehicle, so you need to call us.
Thank you for looking at my 1981 DeLorean 2-door. This is a great car and I owned it for 5 years. It has 31K actual miles and it runs well. The way the stainless steel body looks is exactly the way you'd like to see one when you're considering buying one, because this vehicle is original and really has the look. Just to mention some of the parts that are new over the last 5 years:
-Tires
-Complete braking system (including master cylinder)
-Complete clutch
-Total tuneup including fuel distributor
-Alternator
-Starter (w bendix)
-Front end parts
All panels underneath the vehicle were removed and the entire frame was sandblasted and recoated, done 5 years ago and done to DeLorean specs. We've done interior work on the car, which is why the headliner and doors aren't falling in, because the lining is all new. I actually spent on the car, total restoration, $18,000. It does seem like a lot, but when you start adding in all the little things, including shocks for the doors, hood and trunk, fuel pump, and so many more things to go on and on, just about everything in the car has been gone through and replaced because it spent more time sitting than driving. That's why it only has 31K miles. In my opinion, you could get in this car, drive it and feel good about it. What it still will need is:
-Driver's power window (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't)
-Passenger window doesn't work at all (someone told me they take a GM motor to run power windows and they're $40-$50 each), and I never tried getting one
The heat works but I'd also like to mention there's a minor oil leak that I already have the gasket for if the new owner wants to put it in. Its a 4-5 hour labor fix depending on what your mechanic charges per hour, unless you're a DeLorean enthusiast that does your own work, then it won't cost you anything but a little time to fix it.
The brakes and front end are perfect and so is the clutch. If you look at some of the other DeLoreans for sale online on eBay, AutoTrader, Carsforsale, a lot of the DeLoreans are the same ones. There's probably only about 10 DeLoreans for sale in the entire country, and I don't even really want to include the ones that were painted. We think our DeLorean is one of the nicer ones that will currently be on the market for 7 days and be sold to the last highest bidder when the sale is over. One lucky person is going to get themselves one really nice Christmas present!
