LOCATION: Roswell, GA (24 miles north of Atlanta) EXCELLENT INVESTMENT – “Gull-wing” cars are a rare and exotic breed, which includes some cars worth well over $1 million – such as the original Ford GT40, famed Mercedes 300SL, and a few Bugatti cars as well! The most attainable – and one of the coolest as well – is undeniably the DeLorean DMC-12. It is arguably the most affordable and universally recognized exotic car on the road. Indeed, you will get more attention, thumbs up, and admiring glances in THIS car, than in many brand-new $100,000+ luxury cars. BRIEF DELOREAN HISTORY – John DeLorean was a “rock star” at General Motors, where he completely revitalized the tired Pontiac make into one of the most progressive and exciting automotive brands of the 1960s. After leaving General Motors, DeLorean had the urge to introduce a completely revolutionary affordable sports car and he charismatically inspired even Hollywood legends Johnny Carson and Sammy Davis, Jr. to invest in his new venture. The sleek and exotic gull-winged body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design, with brushed body panels of SS304 stainless steel. The first prototype appeared in October 1976, and the first production car rolled out of the Ireland plant in early 1981. Though the business model for the DeLorean proved financially unsustainable, credit must be given to the fact that the car was indeed built in a respectable volume of about 9000, with an estimated 6000 still exist in the hands of enthusiastic collectors. Interest never seems to wane, and it is poised well for future appreciation. THE FIRST 12 PICTURES will give you a general overview of this very nice DeLorean, but if you are seriously interested...please be sure to look at ALL 100+ images because we want you to see EVERYTHING. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING...TO SEE ALL THE IMAGES: There are over 100 images that will show the car in great detail. BUT, to see ALL of the images, you MUST place your cursor DIRECTLY ON an image...and then scroll gently ALL the way to the bottom (be sure to allow time for all the images to load). CAUTION: If you use the scroll bar to the FAR right of your screen - OR, the "Click to View Image Album" feature - you will NOT be able to see all the images! Over 2,800 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE! As of the date of this listing, we've had over 2,800 transactions (both Buying and Selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our success is to show larger and more images than almost any other eBay listing...so you can clearly see what you are getting. We also give a very detailed description of the car...not just a couple sentences like many listings. QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924 IMPERFECTIONS - NO car is perfect. This car is NICE…but NOT perfect. There are many imperfections…some are the usual “patina” of respectful use over the past 36 years, others are common to most DeLoreans, and others are specific to this particular car. If we see a flaw of significance – we show it. But everyone looks at a car a bit differently, and YOU may find others…that is the nature of any 36 year old classic car. By showing well over 100 images – and larger images – than the vast majority of eBay sellers, we are attempting to duplicate what it would be like to look at this car in person…which you, of course, are also invited to do! Please take a close look at ALL the images. The vast majority will show you how nice the car is, but because we put the camera everywhere we could think of...there are also flaws for you to see. OPERATIONAL & CONDITION REPORT - the car drives nice, with smooth engine performance. All the gauges work. We strongly recommend that the car be driven conservatively, and NOT aggressively. This is particularly because of a common 1st to 2nd shift “foible” in many of these cars due to a roll-pin shearing. To shift from 1st to 2nd smoothly, you must back off the gas a bit (reduce rpms) and/or “double-clutch”…and a smooth shift will result. Because this technique was well-mastered, the current owner did not feel any need to repair it. Also, the power door-locks often fail on these cars, and when they do…the locking solenoids often are burned out - so the power door-locks were intentionally disconnected. Also, as shown at left, fuses that blow often also melt their holders a bit in DeLoreans. This happened in two instances, so the fuses were moved in-line (and out of the fuse box). You will note that there is a well-fitted dash cover…it looks nice and is well coordinated with the interior. However, it covers major cracking of the original dash surface. The cracks are due to an unfortunate DeLorean choice of a metal/foam/vinyl manufacturing method that resulted in materials that expanded and contracted at significantly different rates – thus forcing large cracks. Replacement panels/repairs are available if desired for this very common problem. Finally, here are other items noted during the photo-shoot that were NOT operational: Air-conditioner cooling function (heat works), radio/antenna, dome light (flickered and went out), lighter (missing), and the digital clock (illuminates but does not keep time). The wipers work (washers were not tested). PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due within 2-business days of auction's end via Bank to Bank wire transfer. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS are welcome, but MUST adhere to the SAME Payment Terms detailed above and also make all arrangements for the pick-up and importation of the Vehicle into the Buyer's country. ABOUT ME: I am an avid Classic Car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of Sales & Marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling Classic Cars and Collectibles as a collector, and also market collectible/investment vehicles for friends, fellow enthusiasts, and other clientele. Please Note: as of this date, we have had over 2,800 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback...this includes the sale of many Classic Cars to Buyers all over the world, including Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan and throughout the United States. IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS: A Bill of Sale and clear signed-off Title (i.e. no active liens) will be provided. This DeLorean is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability - stating and showing any defects we found - but oversights are possible. Therefore - before the auction's end - bidders are welcome to examine the vehicle in person. All sales are final. Only through continual maintenance and repair as needed, has this fine car survived for 36 years. Continued maintenance and repairs (often required without notice) should be anticipated by the new purchaser as this is consistent with the nature of owning and enjoying vintage classic automobiles. Please be sure to review ALL the images and ALL the captions because they relate important information too!
