1983 Datsun Z-Series 280zx turbo Additional Info:
Up for grabs is my 1983 280zx turbo 2+2 5speed Original sticker Price was 19,774 (see the original window sticker)
I have had this car for 5 years and bought it from the original owner (although he was in 3 states)
This was his 1st new car and bought it new in Maryland
When he semi retired the car moved to North Carolina and was used in the winter when he was a snowbird
When he full retired and moved to South Carolina they put the car up for sale as they no longer needed the extra car.
When I was young the 280zx was my dream car in 1989 at 20 I bought a 79 but the holy grail was the 2+2 turbo 5 speed (yes I know the 2 seater looks better but I had friends and now I have kids) in 91 I found one waited in a parking lot for the owner and convinced then to tell it to me and Drove it till 96 was the best car I ever had and sold it for a 87 944 in 96
5 years ago in a search I found this the twin of my car I had at 22 and had to buy it I have only seen 3 2+2 turbo 5 speeds in my life and have owned 2 of them.
This is a sold car almost no rust for a east coast car it may be one of the most rust free ever as far as i can tell it has no rust repairs to date (see pics & video on youtube for close ups of the rust) the original owner repainted it in the late 90's and it is ok but my plan was to repaint it.
car runs great is as reliable as a hammer, I would drive it cross county if I put on a new set of tires,(warn & may be a little flat spotted)Trans is good clutch is solidSuspension is tired but I do have new coils & struts in boxes for the backBreaks are good and have less then 5k on them and stop straight and trueac does not workturbo gauge and oil pressure gauge do not workcar had 144k on it when I bought it the odo worked but speedo did not so I put in a cluster with 98k on it and it now shows 103 so car has about 150 k on itwindows rattle when downT-tops leak a little good solid car that needs a little love and lots of little things Interior is 33 years old is faded worn & back seat is crappyI installed all the stereo equipment I had in my Z in the 90's into this one so it has a kicking 90's stereo with 2 amps and a subwoofer Not crazy but not bad
Still have the t-top bags and t-top sun shades as well as the original window sticker.......
My plan was to give this to my daughter for her 17th birthday but she wanted a Wrangler I guess the Z is not cool for a 17 year old girlso I can not justify 5 cars in the driveway so it is time to let ger go to someone who has the time to make her what she can be no reserve
