Owner’s Description

“This 1970 Datsun 240Z is said to have been sold new by Stiles Imported Cars Inc. of Springfield, Oregon, and was acquired by its current owner in 1999. The car is finished in red over black upholstery and is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes 15 aftermarket wheels, PerTronix ignition, and an aftermarket cassette player. Work since 2021 is said to have included a valve adjustment, fluid changes, a rebuild of the left rear wheel cylinder, and replacement of ignition and brake components. This Series I 240Z is offered with manufacturer literature, shop manuals, handwritten ownership notes, service records dating back to the 1980s, and a clean Texas title. The car was finished in Monte Carlo Red (905) from the factory and is said to have been repainted approximately two decades ago. Features include Series I-spec bumpers, roof-pillar badging, and rear-hatch vents. A twin-tipped Monza exhaust finisher has also been added. Silver-finish 15 Rota RKR wheels are mounted with directional 205/50 Kumho Ecsta AST tires. Brake work since 2021 is said to have included a rebuild of the left rear wheel cylinder, replacement of the front calipers, and a fluid flush. The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, while gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard along with a clock. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles. The 2.4-liter L24 inline-six features twin SU carburetors and a replacement E88 cylinder head. A valve adjustment, oil change, and coolant flush were reportedly performed since 2021 along with installation of NGK spark plugs and a PerTronix electronic ignition system. The engine is stamped 009322, which matches the engine number listed on the engine bay data plate shown in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The fluids for the transmission, differential, and clutch were changed in May of 2023. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery. The car is supplied with manufacturer literature, shop manuals, handwritten ownership notes, photos of the car during its earlier refurbishment, and service records dating back to the 1980s.”
