1974 Datsun Other Additional Info:
Very original three owner California car. I bought this on BaT (please search under Datsun 710 for listing and related story they did on this car) where it was part of my Japanese car museum collection for the last 5 years. Purchasedby its original owner as a college commuter, it was parked shortly after graduation while he traveled internationally for work. Paint is all original and still has 23k miles on the odometer which are believed to beoriginal. This is a true survivor that is ready to drive with newer distributor, shocks and struts, fuel filter, soft fuel lines and an upgraded Weber carb–the original is also included.
Sold as a Datsun Violet in Japan, it was marketed as 710 in the US and sold in several bodystyles. This four-door fastback has slotted mags and all trim, badging and glass is intact and in good condition. Two sets of rear turn signal lights are included.
The body isstraight and free of any big dings or dents. Paint is believed to be all originaland still looks great with no heavy fading or oxidation. Only issues with exterior of the car are faded bumpers with superficial oxidation and some very small rust visible above rear window trim (see pics). Tires are in great condition with a lot of tread. All exterior lights are functional. Original blue and yellow California license plates are included.
The interior has never been restored and it’s evident that that car has been stored indoors for most of its life. Dash is clean and crack-free, carpets and headliner are in great condition. Drivers seat has a tear in outer bolster and there is a crack in the passenger seat (see pics). All lights, instruments, switches and electrical accessories work well with the exception of the analog dash clock.Original radio in car and still works fine. Cigarette lighter appears to have never been used.
Engine, transmission and rear end are all believed to be original. Fully stock except for the larger Weber and upgraded coil (original carb isincluded as well). The car is not fast but a great cruiser and extremely reliable. Great car for car shows and cars and coffee.
I love this car and would drive it anywhere, and it is a great member of my collection but it is time to make room for new cars in the collection. Very low reserve which is less than I paid to buy and ship to me 5 years ago. I am happy to ship it personally to anywhere in the Chicagoland area for free, otherwise buyer to pickup or make arrangements for a shipper. Please message me with any questions and I'll do my best to answer.
