1978 Datsun Z-Series Additional Info:
Currently finishing up the 1978 280Z back date to SU carbs. It's roughly 85% complete and the car is running and driving. New bushings, engine mounts, endlinks, tie rods, electric fuel pump and filter...battery cables, plug wires. And new weather stripping all around.
Just replaced with brand new alternator, radiator hose, flushed radiator and replaced with new fluid, oil change and filter (May 22). Also cleaned up battery tray area and spray rust converter.
What needed is to address a leaky master cylinder, minor rust repairs, and interior. The rusts are minor compared to most cars this age. Previous owner did the paint job (in so so condition) but I discovered a few areas that rusted. I sanded it down and covered with rust converter (shown in pics). It will need long term, permanent rust repair and repaint if you choose.
This car was purchased with the Extruabodies (sp?) ITBs [SOLD]. It ran fine but the owner didn't do a good job with wiring for electric fans. Consequently, it failed and led to overheating and sat for awhile. I purchased another L28 with SU carbs included as a replacement 5 months ago. The engine was a recent rebuild with aftermarket cam and rebuilt SUs. The carbs are simple and runs pretty good. Cold start takes about 3 cranks though as I don't have a choke.
This car came with AC (removed) and will be included in the sale. Not sure if its fully functioning but the compressor is not seized. Fan, blower still works great.
