This Datsun has been lovingly cared for and upgraded over its life. The engine has been upgraded with the stronger L20B with a U60 head out of a 200sx. If you are familiar with these cars then you know that this is a great little upgrade that both increased the horsepower and the torque of this little car. To add even more power a Mikuni intake with dual Mikuni Solex carburetors was added. Again if you know these cars you know that both of these items are impossible to find used and are unavailable new. The battery has been relocated to the trunk to help with weight distribution and to clean up the engine compartment. The area where the battery was located is has been shaved smooth.
The exterior has been upgraded with fiberglass fenders in the front and BRE flares at all 4 corners. I think the flares really improve the look of the car. The car has also been lowered about 2.5 inches and has ST springs all around to improve handling and also, in my opinion, give the car an aggressive look. Toyo Proxes R888 tires were installed two months ago onto some vintage Cragar mag wheels. The 510 only has a few hundred miles on it since they were installed. These tires are very aggressive but they are DOT rated for driving on the streets.
The body and frame of the Datsun are in excellent shape. The only rust I could find any where on the car was in the rear passenger footwells. Those spots are only about the size of a quarter and do not show any signs of getting larger so I have ignored them. The frame rails and floors are all straight and do not show any signs of ever being in an accident.
The interior of the car is in pretty good shape. There are a few cracks in the dash but the rest of the interior is very good. There are no rips or tears in either of the front seats and only a small amount of vinly pulling away from the seam in the rear. The headliner is in great shape and the carpet is new. The stock steering wheel was replaced with a nice MOMO unit. A vintage AMCO center console was added that perfectly matches the big boot design of this car.
The bad: this car needs a new paint job pretty badly. Though the body is straight and does not require much body work but I have yet to get it down to a paint shop and get it done. This not necessarily bad for you though, as you may want to change the color from the burnt orange that it currently is.
