1972 Datsun Other Additional Info:
Hello eBay!
Regretfully, up for sale is my 1972 Datsun 1200 sports coupe. A truly nice example of an exceedingly rare car. Competitive in rally and road racing worldwide, at only 1600 lbs., this little car is very nimble and fun to drive!
An older restoration, this CA blue plate car still looks great and you would be hard pressed to find a nicer example, especially in the coupe body-style. I would describe the current condition as an excellent driver quality car. Up close there are imperfections in the paint and dents and dings here and there, but overall it looks extremely sharp. There are no bubbles in the paint, or any indications of rust that I have come across on the exterior, interior or underside of the car.
Originally Safari Gold in color, the car was converted over to red, with the engine bay and door jams painted to match as well. The car seems to be complete minus the rear trunk floor tray that covers the spare tire and the passenger trunk side panel. The seats have been reupholstered (headrests are still original), an upgraded head unit and tachometer have been installed (original clock included). The original heater fan switch is missing (the blower motor still works fine). The alternator has been converted over to a GM one wire. An aftermarket muffler (possibly Ansa or similar in style) has been installed. Otherwise, everything else is pretty much stock. It starts, runs and stops just fine and I drive it often. The engine sounds very healthy, and doesn't put out any smoke.
Most recently, the car has had a new starter unit, alternator, new tires, door and trunk weather seals, and new water hoses installed along with a change of fluids.
Included with the sale is an original Nissan factory service manual for the 1200. This is a thick book that details the tear down and rebuild of all the components of the car - great to have!
Please note: I'm serious in selling this car, so please be serious if you commit to purchase. Ask all questions prior to accepting to buy the car. As this is a used car from 1972, it is sold AS-IS with no warranty of any kind, including that of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose. I will assist as much as I can to help with getting the car to your carrier of choice for shipping.
