1973 Datsun 240Z first series. Additional Info:
Beautiful Datsun 240Z first series car ready to use and enjoy. Always a California Car, with original Blue plates (both included, rear professionally restored to like new). This is a two owner car, with about 6,000 miles on a fully rebuilt stock engine with MSD ignition added and otherwise fully standard. Four speed transmission in super condition, with new clutch and many suspension replacements, newer brakes, all four new tires on stock rims with hard to find original hubcaps in great shape. This is a great club level show car, but should really be driven and enjoyed. The car underwent abeautifulrepaint in the stock Datsun forest green color and was done to a very high standard after a previous repaint that was not great. This time windscreen front and rear removed, and a high degree of attention to detail including brand new windshield, and new window rubber front and rear. No rust was present anywhere we looked except a small spot behind the passenger seat, which was completely removed and new plate professionally welded. The floors and integrated structures of the car are solid and superb with no undercoating hiding any gremlins. This car showed zero accident damage and still wears its original bumpers in great shape. Inside the seats were given complete rebuilds with a factory upholstery kit to stock specs. Very comfortable and look superb. Also the dash was given a full dash replacement cover correct for the year, not a cheap dash cap. It looks fantastic. Original steering wheel in great shape, The rest of the interior is original and in very nice condition. Door panels have some light wear in spots, and the original headliner panel has about a three inch split that is hard to see and the rest looks so good I just left it. Carpets have been replaced and look good. The air conditioning is the original that came with these cars, but has been completely upgraded to the rotary compressor, a rebuilt radiator and cooling fans, all new lines and hoses, and the car is a joy to drive with the A/C even on very hot days, with no drag on power and never runs hot. I have the original Datsun AM-FM radio which is said to have been working fine when replaced with the period 70s tape deck AM-FM which works great.Nice photo of the radio in the gallery which has been carefully stored and none of the plugs or original connectors have been cut. The parts photo shows several hundred dollars of new spares which includes a new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder which I like to carry, along with a new A/C expansion valve from Z specialists which can be hard to find for the original A/C so I got a spare when rebuilding the air, then there is all the rubber, a genuine Nissan battery tray and air and oil filters, and more as well as the front blue license plate in very good shape, and the original owners handbook and tool roll cover. All gauges work great, except the clock and the MSD pickup for the tach has not yet been fitted (easy). First series 240Zs have come alive in the collector car market but still represent such a great value in a car you can drive every day reliably, and show on Sundays. This car drives great and needs nothing mechanically. I have a full kit of the replacement rubber seals for the car, and the new owner can drive and enjoy while paying attention to upgrading small details and light cosmetics while watching the values of these most desireable Z cars climb. The early 240Z will always be the collectible one investors want, and drivers crave. Just like the early Porsche 911 and Jaguar E Types, these cars defined the breed and will go nowhere but up in value. This car has an amazingly realistic reserve and represents a real find. I welcome any professional inspection during but not after, the auction. Also ask any questions. Collector cars are a hobby for me not a business and this has been my personal car for several years and is licensed and currently registered to me and is ready to go. Thanks for looking. (items included with sale are spare wheel and tiire, original radio as above, original owners handbook, jack and tools as provided, and both originalCaliforniaBlue License plates.) Warranty of clear title with sale.
