1971 Datsun Pickup Truck 521
A WAREHOUSE FIND,
Not to long ago I was shopping around a warehouse, by my house looking for car parts. I asked the gentlemen that worked there if he had any old cars for sale. He took me to the back room where he had an old Chevy, Oldsmobile and this little red Datsun truck. I saw that it had been there for a long time, with the 1/4-inch coat of dust and all. I don’t usually mess with cars like this but I could tell it was a good truck that needed a good home, and put back on the road. It turns out that it had been in the family for many years. It was the wife of the gentlemen who owned the warehouses, Dads. From what I was told he drove it all over the place, and had it restored 10-15 years ago. After her father passed away it went to the woman’s brother, who then drove it around awhile and parked it under a tree for many years. The brother then sold it to the couple who owned the warehouse, and this is where the little red Datsun remained for a very long time. I included a picture of what she looked like when I rescued her, just to give you an idea, of the story. What a cool truck!
THE GOOD,
-Every thing is there, even the tool kit
-I pulled and cleaned the carb. I had her running but she needs a major tune up
-Only 77372 original miles
-Interior is in great condition
-Floor pans and underneath is in great condition
THE BAD
-It’s been sitting for years so you know what happens when old cars sit. (Need to go through everything)
-The fuel tank is toast, I pulled it out it had holes every where.
-Rust in the front of the hood and has small holes in the side too (look at the pictures)
-Tires are dry rotted
-Cracked windshield
-Clutch peddle goes to the floor
-Break peddle goes to the floor
This truck is what it is, I am not going to nit pick it anymore. These are rare birds, and she needs to be on the road, not stuck rotting away in a warehouse. Any questions you can contact me, I will answer them the best I can.
Thank you
