1965 Daihatsu Trimobile Trimobile base Additional Info:
1965 Daihatsu Trimobile. This is a very rare microcar or micro truck. This one actually runs and has a clear title in my name. There is no rust as it came from the desert southwest. That is the good news. The bad news i, the windshield is cracked, the paint is not great, the wheels are trailer wheels that have been redrilled and are suitable only for moving it around the yard. Also it appears that sometime in the distant past someone has swapped out the rear axle, it obviously has been used like that for a long while but it seems geared very high to me . Maybe they were prepping it for a Bonneville top speed run!!! Seriously though it takes a bit of clutch slipping to pull away from a stop. However that may also be due to the 12 inch tires as they were supposed to be 9 inch! The gas tank has been lined and installed but it is not hooked up, I used a temporary tank to drive it around my property. That is all that I have driven it but it seems to shift through the gears just fine. It needs a battery, the rear wheel cylinders leak profusely but the hand brake works and I have no idea if the lights or speedometer work, probably not .In some of the pictures the paint looks yellowed but that is my camera doing that, I don't know why. It is all bright orange in real life! All in all this is a great project microcar that has pretty good bones to start with, but it does need substantial work to become a driver. Not too many of these around other than in museums. Sold as-is, $250 deposit within 48 hrs or I will relist. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can hold it for a reasonable amount of time till pickup.
