This 1972 Citroen DS21 Pallas was reportedly delivered new to its first owner in France before being imported to the US, and it has remained registered in California since 1972. The car is refinished in blue over brown leather upholstery and powered by a rebuilt 2,175cc inline-four and four-speed semi-automatic transaxle. Additional equipment includes 15” wheels, a hydropneumatic suspension, and a push-button radio. The seller acquired the car on BaT in August 2022, and subsequent work is said to have included replacing the front brake pads, engine belts, and spark plugs, along with performing an oil change. This DS21 Pallas is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The body was repainted in blue with a white roof in 2023 and features US-specification headlights, taillights, and turn signals. Additional features include Pallas side trim, chrome mirrors, and stainless-steel bumpers with rubber overriders. The rear license plate panel wears a painted registration number said to indicate that the original owner took delivery in France.
Painted 15” steel wheels wear stainless-steel covers and are mounted with 195/75 Goodyear Wrangler ST tires. A spare tire is stored under the hood and holds a tool kit. The car rides on a self-leveling, height-adjustable hydropneumatic suspension with parallel semi-leading arms up front and trailing arms out back. Stopping power is provided by inboard-mounted front discs and rear drums. Service in 2021 included replacing the right-front wheel hub and rebuilding the hydraulic pump, front brake calipers, and steering rack. The seller states the front brake pads were replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features seating surfaces reupholstered in brown leather, joined by color-coordinated door panels and tan carpets. Additional appointments include a removable center armrest for the front seats, stainless-steel sill plates, grab handles on the B-pillars, padded floor mats, and a clock. The air conditioning system and the radio are inoperative.
The single-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a warning-light cluster, and supplementary gauges. The lever atop the steering column operates valves that control gear selection and clutch engagement via the central hydraulic system. The five-digit odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership.
The 2,175cc inline-four is mounted behind the transaxle and features a replacement Weber two-barrel carburetor. Work since 2021 included rebuilding the cylinder head and wiring harness, rodding out the radiator, and replacing the pistons, cylinder liners, spark plugs and wires, and coolant hoses. An oil change was performed under current ownership.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed semi-automatic transaxle. Service in 2021 included replacing the clutch and rebuilding the transaxle, centrifugal regulator, and axles. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.
