Celebrate Citroen's 100th Anniversary this month!
OFFERS AND INSPECTIONS WELCOME!
This is a unique car and well worth a web search on its rich history. This is not the '57 Chevy that everybody's neighbor has!
This 1988 Citroen 2CV Special was acquired by its current owner in Tokyo in 2017, lovingly driven in the Japanese countryside for a year, then imported to southern Georgia in mid-2018 . The car is powered by an air-cooled 652cc twin paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle, each carefully maintained as this car is driven 3-4 times weekly. As this car was never directly sold in the USA, eBay translated the VIN incorrectly- This is a 1988 model year.
Only slightly updated from its 1938 initial design, this car has been rebadged and retreated to harken back to pre-war Europe, while including technology more modern than even the 1988 chassis date. Traffic stopper and quick conversation piece. Additional features include a roll-back fabric roof, removable bench seats, and vented door glass. Upgrades since acquisition include warm LED bulbs all around, a Bluetooth electronic timing module (with immobilizer), ignition coil, keyed ignition switch, window latches, spark plug wires, heated seats, 12V lighter outlets, Bluetooth speaker, faux leather seats, wood –clad trunk space, wooden steering wheel and shift knob. The engine was dressed to black and bare metal, with a French tricolor paint on the air cleaner. This 2CV is offered with numerous spare parts, manuals, limited service records and a clean Georgia title.
The car features glass rear pillar windows, forward-hinged doors, and square tail lights. Three-lug steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are mounted all around, with a full-size spare in the trunk. If the starter motor or battery fails, the 2CV has the option of hand-cranking: the jack handle serving as starting handle through dogs on the front of the crankshaft at the center of the cooling fan. The car was repainted in nonmetallic green with black bumpers while in Japan. The roof is in great condition, and a second pristine roof is included in the spare parts. Minimal surface corrosion has been treated, and the floorboards were recently replaced and reinsulated.
Old interior bulkhead carpeting has been removed and new, precut carpeting is ready to be put into place over some currently visible paint overspray and surface corrosion. It has not been installed to ensure complete transparency in any buyer inspection.
The interior features removable vinyl-covered front and rear bench seats, black flooring, and body-color green instrument cluster trim. Approximately 88k kilometers (~54k miles) are shown on the 5-digit odometer, with 3,000 km added by the current owner. A set of summer tires are mounted, and low-mileage snow tires are included, as well as a grille muff for driving in temps below 50F.
Please ask if any feature is not photographed to your satisfaction, due to the listing’s photo limits.
As an experienced car buyer, I’m well versed in shipping cars and am comfortable working with any company you hire to get this quirky car safely home. I’ll even livestream us getting it on the truck if you like.
