I have sold hundreds of classic cars on eBay over about 15 years and maintain a 100% positive feedback rating and maintaining this rating is my priority. Normally, I post 30-40 photos, but the incredibly solid, original condition of this particular 4L forced me to post many more…just so much good to see. Every nook and cranny is shockingly sound. All original body panels, never any accidents and zero body repairs of any kind. All you see is 100% original steel.
This is a 1984 Renault 4L Trophy. The Trophy is a challenge from France, down through Spain and the north Africa desert to Morocco. This particular car was run by a student from ESC Rennes University and apparently, included her sister. The ‘4L et 2 Soeurs’ is a play on phonetics as ‘4L’ sound like ‘Four wings’ in French…so, ‘Four wings and two sisters’. https://www.4ltrophy.com

The entire floor pan is original and free of rust. Even door bottoms rust free. There is ONE area with a few bubbles on the entire car and it’s just under the right front fender and photographed below. Easy repair. Before this 4L was prepared for the Trophy challenge, it’s clear they found a very original, well-loved car to start with. You don’t want to take a rusty, rickety car on a Trophy Challenge. Stereo/CD player has surprisingly good sound. Original interior and rubber floor mat testifies to the care she’s received. I installed a rear seat, but the back does not fully recline due to roll cage. The seat can be unbolted in 5 minutes.
The Renault 4L is like a mix between an old Land Rover Series and a Citroen 2CV and drives like it too, but neither will drop ‘em like this 4L…won’t be another like it anywhere near you. Even in France people ask me if they can take photos with the car. Lots of little dents and dings, but perfect just the way it is. Paint basically has new shine, even if many scratches and blemishes. The only cosmetic thing I would do, is strip the underside of the floor and recoat, just for preservation. That is ALL.
She still has all original factory body stickers, paint code sticker, tags and plaques. Even the super cool ELF sponsored Formula 1 sticker on the back window. I have every reason to believe she didn’t run or drive any better in 1984 than today.
Bullet-proof mechanics. Engine runs like a watch, transmission shift through all gears like new, brakes are strong and perfectly balanced. Everything seems to work except the turn signals. Haven’t looks into this. New battery, starter rebuilt and exhaust manifold gasket. Two sets of wheels with good tires…won’t need to buy tires for several years. All parts are cheap and readily found online. www.leboncoin.fr, www.ebay.fr and many independent suppliers.
I am only selling to continue a charity project in the Philippines called www.wanderbyus.comFaceBook: Wander By Us. Soon on YouTube: WanderByUs
I have imported and exported many cars between the US and France. I will help with the process. Shipping to east coast is around 600-700$ last time I checked. West coast round 900$.
