1964 Chrysler CROWN Imperial convertible, 1 of only 922, The Chrysler Corporation’s Imperial line entered the 1960s properly with the 1964 redesign, courtesy of Elwood Engle of Ford design fame. With new slab sides, razor-edged lines, and subtle cues reminiscent of the Engles’ 1961 Lincoln Continental design. This CROWN Imperial is part of a large and well maintained car collection. Brilliant White paint with deep emerald leather interior with white top. All the trim and chrome are well preserved. The body shows well for a driver. New tires, brakes, carburator and recent tune-up by a professional mechanic who maintains the collection regularly. Inside the trunk is original and clean. Still has the cardboard based separators in place. Also has the Convertible top Parade cover and side shields for when the top is down. The original leather seats has been maintained but are worn with some cracking. The dash is complete and everything works. Car is currently registered and driven by the owner. Car drives like a cloud and has a nice rumble through a dual exhaust. No rust but shows like an original car underneath. The panels and doors gaps are like a fine automobile with very nice fitment. Under the hood is a clean original 413 max wedge V8 with 340hp. Push button Automatic transmission that shifts quietly. The power top is in good working order and most of the top visually looks ok but will ultimately need to be replaced. Owner used the car with top down on nice days only. A very nice appearing car with a rare provenance. Previously owned by NY politician and used in parades. These cars like many mopars that are collectible and sought after for merging hot rod power with the luxury of the time. This is a great and affordable classic.
