The market on Chrysler Town & Country's is very hot right now, especially for premium examples like this car. The low mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title that shows the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how exceptionally nice this Chrysler really is.As a side note, this Town & Country is not a dealer auction vehicle. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Chrysler, just give us a call.
ExteriorThe Catalina Tan (9) exterior is in beautiful condition. As one can see in the photos the paint has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The wood also looks great as does the woodgrain with a very nice patina. According to the previous owner the wood on the car is all original and the woodgrain finish is also original on the sides of the car. The previous owner also said that he had all of the Tan complete repainted and it looks great. He said the wood on the trunk lid is original, but the woodgrain there on the metal panels was also refinished. The chrome and brightwork on the car look good overall. The wheels are in excellent condition with a great finish and no curb rash. The tires were replaced by the previous owner and have been used very sparingly since. They are Coker Classic wide whitewall radials and sized 235/75R15. Please note that these are radial tires, which greatly improves the drivability of the car. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos, there may be a few tiny imperfections that were too small to show up in the photos, but nothing that is noticeable from about five feet away. This car has absolutely no rust issues. As one can see in the photos of the underside the car is quite clean underneath.
InteriorThe Burgundy/Tan Broadmoor Cord interior of this Chrysler looks utterly splendid. The previous owner had the carpet and upholstery restored and the quality of the workmanship and materials is top-notch. The leather seats are in excellent condition with no split seams, rips, or hardly any wear at all. The carpet is also in great condition with no stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in nice condition with no cracks or sun fading. The chrome and brightwork inside the car also looks great overall. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The door panels look excellent. This car has not been smoked in; there are obviously no burn marks or aroma of cigarettes what-so-ever.The trunk is very clean, highly detailed, and well-trimmed with a full size spare tire and wheel.
MechanicalThis Chrysler Town & Country seems to be in good mechanical condition. The straight eight engine starts every time and idles smooth. The car drives nicely on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 60mph, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The very interesting "Fluid Drive Automatic" transmission operates well and shifts as one can seen in the video. The shifter does not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good. The gauge shows that the engine makes good oil pressure. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos. The headlights work as do the, brights, taillights, turn signals, horn, wipers, and blower for the heater. All of the gauges work. The defrost function also works and switches the airflow to the windshield. The door locks work. The power top works, but needs hand going up. The clock and does not work and we cannot get the radio to play sound. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this Chrysler convertible, especially with the top down on a nice day.
Overall ConditionOverall, this 1948 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible is in marvelous condition. The low miles, nice condition, the originality, and the beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Chrysler always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
