1961 Chrysler Newport 2 door hardtop. Very soli, straight body with no rust or signs of previous damage. Very nice driver qualit, single stage paint. There are a few paint chips and lights scratches as expected. Floor, trunk and rockers are all solid as seen in the pictures. Both bumpers were rechromed. The rest of the chrome and stainless looks to be good original pieces with very minor scratches or dings. Original grille has been replaced with one from a Chrysler 300. Interior has been recently redone in matching red vinyl. Including seat, door panel, headliner and package tray. The dash has not been repainted or restored and dash pad has been removed. I was told by the previous owner that the engine is a 413 from a Chrysler New Yorker of the same era. It is also equipped with the rare and desirable long ra, dual carb intake. Original carburetors have been replaced with edlebrocks. Engine runs strong and smooth. Push button automatic transmission shifts great. There are signs of minor leaks from the valve covers. It is equipped with factory power brakes and power steering. It has been lowered about 2 inches with lowering blocks in the rear and torsion bar adjustments in the front. It can easily put back to stock height in less than an hour. I love this car and think the styling rivals any car from that time period but due to an unfortunate situation, I am forced to sell. With that being said there are a few items that I was not able to address before selling. Although the exhaust system in fairly ne, it has glass pack muffler, which in my opinion sound awful. The gas pedal is very stiff and makes initial acceleration touchy. I have tried different tension throttle springs but haven’t found the right combination. I took it to get a front end alignment after it was lowered and was told it needs upper control are bushings on the passenger side and an outer tie rod on the drivers side. All of the exterior lights are working but there is an issue with the turn signal switch. The left turn signal does not shut off by itself and the right turn signal does not stay on unless you hold the switch in position. The horn and radio are not working. Haven’t been able to address the issue. These are not major problems and can be corrected and sorted out in a couple weekends of tinkering but I refuse to sell a car and have the buyer be disappointed for any reason. Vehicle is located in Fairless Hills PA 19030 and is available for inspection during the duration of the auction. Clear Pennsylvania title in my name. Any questions or additional picture request, please feel free to message me. Vehicle is being sold as is with no warranty. I will accept cash in person or a check but vehicle and title will not be released until funds clear. Now with all that out of the wa, please bid early and bid often. Do not miss out on an this opportunity. They do not come up for sale very ofte, especially in this condition.
