Introducing Lemmy the Limo- Regrettably up for sale is Lemmy the Limo. I found and rescued this limousine, which was an older custom, in a garage that housed it since the previous owner passed away. The mild customization was done in the late '80's - early '90's. It was used exclusively for cruising around the Minneapolis area lakes scene on weekend nights. Family said that more than once it was filled with up to 10 people when bar-hopping was happening. The owner passed away several years ago, and it was parked after his death. It is the original limousine body on the original frame, with the exception of the front subframe which is a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The 350 Cubic Inch 4 bbl Olds engine and turbo 400 trans were used in the build, along with a 10" GM rear, which, I believe is a positraction unit (left 2 long streaks on the concrete) . Engine runs extraordinarily well, with no noises or smoke. It holds 30 psi oil pressure at idle and 180 degree temp. 60 psi going down the road. Trans is operated by a Hurst shifter, with a Michelob Amber shifter handle. Since owning it, I have gone through the mechanicals completely, including the following
Front and rear brakes
complete tune up, including, new HEI cap and rotor, wires, plugs ect..
rebuild of the Quadrajet carb
new fuel lines front to back
new fuel pump
new starter
new exhaust (sounds awesome)
new belts and hoses
new valve cover gaskets
new gauges
new BFG front tires, (rears are 245/60/15 Goodyears)
new hoses
coolant flush
Super cool custom Aces and Eights license plate holder, in homage to Lemmy Kilmister of MOTORHEADI think he would approve of the car!!!!!!!
The car is still a little cold blooded on start up, but, warms up quickly and runs great when warm.
Body is straight as far as I can tell. There is some rust bubbles in front of the rear wheels, and some other spotty surface rust on the car. Paint is old, and showing it's age. It is still intact, but, there are pits ect. It has the patina everybody is looking for nowadays.
Interior is in alright condition. Seats actually are very soft. Seats have some fading, but no holes or tears. Carpet is new, headliner is all there, however tattered around the perimeter and nice in the middle.
Glass is outstanding, with the exception of one stone chip and light fogging around the edges on the windshield
There is a Painless Wiring harness installed. Headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals all work as they should
The post on the passengers side where the suicide doors latch is removeable. I guess it was for when they hauled caskets or something like that. I never removed it, but I see where you could.
Front seat would seat 3, rear seat would comfortably seat 3 (4 close friends), and the two jump seats another 3.
Overall, this is just a super cool old rod. There were very few of these made, and scarce few left today. The modern driveline makes it fun to drive. I would love to keep this old boy, but, I have other commitments that require me to sell it now.
I am offering this up on a 10 day NO RESERVE auction.I will require a $500 paypal deposit immediately at auctions end. I will require the balance to be paid by cash on pickup, or bank wire transfer. I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason. I also reserve the right to cancel bids by low, no, or negative feedback bidders. I have had too many situations where people bid and don't follow through. If you bid, please honor your bid. by not doing so, it makes it horrible for everyone!!!!
I welcome and encourage inspections prior to bidding. I am usually available at most all times. I will answer all questions ASAP by phone calls or text. I do not check emails very often, if at all. You can reach me at 320-260-0502 up till 11:00 pm central time. I have videos of the car running. I can send them by text, but I am not computer savvy enough to do it online.
This is a very cool oddity. It is not perfect by any means. I went through the mechanicals as described above, and feel very confident it its mechanical state. If there are any questions you need answered prior to bidding, feel free to call me at any time,
I have clean and clear title in hand, and, it will be forwarded to the new owner as soon as car is paid for.
I have the ability to store the car here (most probably indoors) for up to 30 days after the sale to allow for optimum shipping rates. I will assist in any way possible insofar as helping load, ect…. Good Luck Bidding!!!!! Bob
