1958 Imperial Crown
VIN: LY1**4276 Southampton four-door hardtop.
This was the last year for the 392 ‘Hemi’ engine.
This Imperial is a complete, unrestored car which had been stored in Big Springs, Texas and Palm Desert, CA for over 30 years. Showing mileage of 25021 believed correct, but assumed that it turned over once, and not verifiable. It has front and rear air conditioning units, and of course, all the power accessories were standard and or desired options. The Body tag shows the following: M=634; scdl=1101; ITM=397; PNT=XZZ (Ermine, top / Champagne Gold, mid & bottom); TRM=060. Accessory codes are as follows: 41= A/C trunk install.; 42=A/C Deluxe Dual; 467= Solex tinted glass; 341= undercoating; 394= rear window defogger.
The condition is GOOD. There is minimal surface rust in the usual places. The car was so completely covered in West Texas dust and the dry climate, that it was protected from getting too much rust, plus it is factory undercoated. All loose parts are included in the trunk (see photo). Seats have aftermarket seat covers, however pulling them up a little revealed the original seats, which seem to be in good condition and perhaps can be saved. The car needs new headliner material and a thorough mechanical overhaul. With a little work and touchup, the car could be considered a survivor and put back on the road. Definition of mechanical overhaul: engine service; transmission service; brake service; A/C Service; differential service. Also needs 5 new tires. I would not do or recommend a body- off restoration. The car is very straight and unmolested car. I have the original 1958 Texas title (in photos) which is signed over and a bill of sale.
