1987 Chrysler Conquest TSI (aka Mitsubishi Starion).
Rust free, no accidents, 126k miles, 5 speed, turbo, RWD, 4 wheel independent suspension, 4 wheel disk brakes, factory limited slip diff, 2.5 inch turbo back exhaust with Flowmaster muffler, 14lbs of boost, new clutch, rebuilt turbo, bare block engine rebuild, non-sunroof car.... Meticulous, non-smoking owner.
This Conquest runs and drives really well. It pulls hard in every gear, turns well and stops well. All exterior and interior lights work as they should, this includes fog lights, turn signals, flip up headlights, and gauge cluster lights. Power windows and power seat belts work great. I don't hesitate to jump in it and drive it anywhere. All the tires on the car were brand new about 1000 miles ago.
Cosmetically it's a good looking car. The body is straight and the paint shines. The interior is really nice. No rips or tears in anything. No cracks in the dash. The carpet is nice, it looks like it's been replaced at sometime. As I said, it's a good looking car, but it's not perfect. See pics for a couple of scratches on the front bumper and another one on the rear hatch. Also, here's a faint line at the top of each "B" pillar where it looks like someone has buffed it a little too much.
The engine rebuild consisted of a strip down to the bare block. The bores were excellent, so only a hone was necessary. The crank was machined 10/10. The bottom end was reassembled with new rings, bearings, gaskets and freeze plugs. Also, a balance shaft eliminator kit, new timing set and oil pump was installed. The top end is 100% brand new. I sourced a complete brand new AMC head, and installed a new jet eliminator kit in it. Quality brand new bolts and gaskets were used throughout. The turbo was rebuilt using an internet sourced rebuild kit, it spools up nicely and is currently running 14lbs of boost. At the time of the the rebuild, a new water pump, alternator and thermostatically controlled electric fan were installed. Also, new spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, radiator hoses and all new hose clamps were installed. At the 500 mile mark, the head was re-torqued and the oil changed.Since the rebuild, it has been driven about 1000 miles. It's a great car, that can be driven anywhere.
The previous owner removed the A/C components from under the hood. I have most of it in a box that could be reinstalled. It's all complete under that dash, it's just the stuff under the hood that's been removed. Also, the heater core is bypassed. I have a complete replacement heater box to go with the car. I had plans to reinstall the A/C and replace the heater core this summer, but a relocation out of state has me selling some of my cars. See my feedback for recent car sales. The synchro's on second gear are getting a little soft when it's cold, but once warmed up, it's like butter!!!
Other stuff that I will include with the sale of the car are brand new front struts, brand new front strut top mounts, brand new sway bar end links, and a complete body decal set. I have a spare transmission as well that I'll include with the car if the buyer is interested in it...
The car has no emissionequipmenton it, so keep that in mind of you live in anemissionsstate/county. Please ask any questions before bidding. I will answer them honestly and to the best of my knowledge. If you’re within driving distance, I encourage you to come and see this car in person. I am not interested in trades. Car will come with clean/clear TN title, a bill of sale, and one key (I have only ever had one key). Non-refundable deposit of $500 due immediately via Paypal at the end of the auction. The car needs to be collected within a reasonable timeframe, preferably by April 14th. Balance due in cash upon collection or wire transfer prior to shipping. I will not accept full payment via Paypal. I will take Paypal for the deposit only. If shipping is required, it is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange and pay for. I will assist in loading if necessary. It has a reserve on it, but chances are I will lift the reserve towards the end as the car needs to sell. I'm just trying to protect myself with the reserve and not give the car away..
PS. Last picture is of the Conquest with two of my other cars. The Conquest has had some very good company during it's stay with me. It's been a very difficult choice as to which one of these three cars to sell. I'm going to miss the Conquest because out of the three it was my go-to car.
