1973 Chrysler Imperial lebaron Additional Info:
Introducing my 1973 Imperial by Chrysler.
This survivor grade, driver quality Imperial features factory paint, chrome, interior and drivetrain. With a bit over 68K miles, she runs smooth, drives great, brakes strong and straight, handles well given her size and is surprisingly solid and quiet over rough roads.
I purchased this Imperial last year from a gentleman in Alabama who used this car sparingly over the past several years. Upon having the car shipped to me in Delaware I proceeded with performing all of the repair and maintenance items a car needs after sitting for a very long time. I replaced the ignition system including the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, ECU, set the air gap and timing. Installed new radiator hoses, heater hoses, belts and power steering hoses. I removed the fuel tank, cleaned the inside, repaired the sending unit, and blew out the fuel and return line. I installed a new fuel pump and new Edlebrock carburetor. I inspected the brake system and replaced a front caliper, performed a oil fluid change and had a front-end alignment completed. I also replaced various light bulbs both in the interior and exterior of the car and installed a glasspack style, straight-through muffler. Since making these repairs I now have a safe car that is very reliable, very nice running and a very presentable driver.
As with any old car there are some items that need to be addressed however. These items include:
- The fuel gauge reads approximately one-quarter low,
- The power window motors for the two rear door windows no longer operate,
- The 8-track player does not work,
- The vinyl top has started to shrink and crack around the rear window. It is also discolored and stained in places.
- The Auto-Temp II servo is bypassed however a replacement aluminum servo body has been purchased and will be included with the sale of the car.
So, despite these shortcomings this Imperial is a joy to drive. The rim-blow steering wheel horn functions as it should as does the power antenna, cruise control, power steering and brakes, interior and exterior lighting and the AM/FM radio. Also, this Imperial is ready for its new caretaker and can be driven and enjoyed immediately and without any repairs.
After reviewing the photos and video, should any questions arise, please don't hesitate to call me at 302-650-9078. However, since I live in Delaware and on Eastern Standard Time, please be respectfully of the time you call.
