This is a car which was restored approximately 9 years ago. When I purchased the car, the paint, chrome, gauges, and interior were very clean, but the engine bay was a mess. I had very little documentation of the restoration. The color is believed to be original based on the fact that the hard top still has its original black lacquer paint.
My work on the car included pulling the engine, blasting and painting the components, restoring the engine bay, and restoring the paint. I was surprised to see that the date codes on the block, heads, and electrical components appear correct for the build date. Six inch stepped vibration dampener (GM Part Number 3760584) is correct for the Corvette 283. Heads were completely redone, including magnafluxing and hardened valve seats. Please see photos for details. Some photos, like the manifolds and master cylinder were taken prior to restoration for number documentation.
Please note that the car has not been NCRS certified, but would appear to be a good candidate.
The only non-original parts on the car appear to be a Muncie 1963 4 speed transmission, as opposed to the original T10. The spare tire cover has been painted (as opposed to black varnish). The trunk tools are correct for 1959, and jack appears correct as well, but the mat is coded as 1961. No carburetor tags on car, but carburetor model numbers are correct. The Wonderbar radio is a replica, and the package tray under the passenger grab bar is missing.
Car drives, brakes, and shifts great. This car is so much more than an excellent driver.
