1954 Chevrolet Other Pickups Additional Info:

Meet Loafy the retired loaf hauler. Just imagine the possibilities when you restore this big aluminum beauty back to its former glory!!! Its a 1954 Grumman Step van body on a Chevy 5700 chassis single rear wheel 10k gvwr . I had to have this project...hauled it to storage and here it sits, with the new job situation I cant see getting to it this century so here she is. The engine is a Chevy straight 6, I would guess its a 215 cid, but haven't run the numbers. I've never put a battery in it to see if it turns over....by the looks of the wiring I guessing not. Also the crank pulley is buried so close to the radiator I cant see it to put a wrench on it to spin her over. The chassis looks solid, brakes do not work. Has all 5 wheels and 4 hubcaps. Tires are dry rotted but hold air. The windshield is made up of 6 pieces, three each side, a front, corner, and side. On the passenger side the corner and side are missing. Someone has put tin over the hole to keep the weather out. Drivers side glass is loose and has some separation around the corners, This truck does not run, needs a total restoration but is a perfect candidate. The body does have some repairs done in the lower passenger front corner, upper passenger rear corner, and drivers rear drip edge is torn about a foot, all are pictured. The green on the front drivers side is paint and comes off with some elbow grease and thinner. Wiring is a disaster, I haven't tried it but I an only imagine a puff of smoke and burning smell. Also this truck has NO TITLE or vin plate. Lots of time when the bread company sold these they removed the vin plate and sold them as storage only to farmers.... not a super huge deal. Here in Illinois you can apply for a bonded title with vin assignment, so it will have a brand new vin from the state. Overall it needs a total going over, but would be the talk of any car show or swap meet it goes to.
Shipping is totally on the buyer, I would prefer pickup within 10 days of auctions end. Its about 18 feet from head to toe... not sure of the weight.
