1966 Chevrolet Impala SS Additional Info:
I am listing this vehicle for a very good friend of mine. The description below is his. I looked the car over and the description is very accurate. I will list his contact info below if you have any questions. Thanks!!
This is the vehicle you always dream of finding in someones garage. It is originally from Colorado. Here is the history: I purchased it from the son of the second owner. His dad purchased the vehicle from the original owner in 1981 when it was 15 years old. I have the Colorado Registration card from when he purchased it. When his dad bought it, he put new tires on it, drove it rarely, and had it repainted 3 years later in 1984. Paint still looks great after 28 years! It has spent most of its life in the garage. Still have the receipt for the tires he purchased in 1981, and those tires are still on the vehicle at nearly 95% tread left. This is an original miles, numbers matching vehicle. It has not been detailed in any way, as you can see in the engine bay. I only washed and waxed the exterior to bring out the shine in the paint. The interior was vacuumed and all the glass cleaned. Here is the Condition: The paint is 28 years old, and still looks great. Body lines look nice, doors alignment matches up great, as does the hood and trunk. There are a couple of minor door dings, but small enough that I couldn't get them to show up in the pics. There are some small scratches in the paint that is normal for a 28 year old body. There is no rust, no cracked glass, and no body filler on the vehicle. The sheet metal is original. Floor pans and trunk are all solid. No rust under the hood, no rust anywhere. Very light surface rust under the mat in trunk, but that can be removed with a wire brush. I was tempted to do so, but they are only original and unmolested once. The rag top is in great shape as well. No holes or rips at all.Interior is unbelievable also. Original deluxe black leather upholstery is almost flawless. No rips or tears, no stains, no stitching or seams coming undone. It is beautiful. Carpet is also near perfect. The trim is all original. It has not been polished or altered. The trim along the bottom of the doors is missing, and 1 piece of trim along the front passenger tire is missing as well. Otherwise it is all there and all in great condition. Bumpers are perfect, and hubcaps are original and pristine. No rust or dents. A great indication of how long this vehicle spent inside.Mechanically, the vehicle is excellent. Starts right up, engines runs smooth with no knocks or noise. 3 speed on the tree transmission shifts evenly thru all gears. Clutch feels fine and needs no adjustment. The original Frigidaire A/C compressor kicks on, and blows air, but is not cold. It will need to be recharged. There are a couple small pin holes in the hydraulics line for the convertible top, but I will have those replaced by auctions end. Top goes up and down smoothly despite the little leak in the hydraulics, but again that will be replaced by end of auction for the new owner.Tires are like new, despite being purchased in 1981, with no weather checking or cracks. From what I could determine, there were only 1100 or so Impalas ordered from the factory that were convertible SS with the smaller 283 motor with factory air and the deluxe leather interior. This is a numbers matching car, with original motor, transmission, interior, glass, trim, bumpers etc.. The only thing that is not original is the gas tank and exhaust.
Now for the fun stuff.
Please do NOT ask for the reserve price. This is an auction, and the reserve price will not be disclosed. This vehicle is for sale in other venues, so I reserve the right to end the auction if the reserve has not been met. Once the reserve is met, I will not end the auction for any reason. If you have any questions, please call me, Travis, at 605-484-7101 between 8am - 9pm MDT.
