Up for sale is one of the most correct no expense spared and super desirable 1969 True SS Camaro upgraded to L89 396 specs, a real head turner!!
Most enthusiast would agree this Camaro probably started life as a L34 or L35 SS 396, only recognizable by the power steering option. With cost not being an object, this 1969 Camaro was treated to a beautifully detailed rotisserie restoration. Every inch of this car was meticulously restored with only the best quality parts and craftsman shift that would put that assembly line to shame.
This 1969 Camaro is an original Hugger Orange SS 396. Using two stage urethane that exactly duplicates the original Hugger Orange along with sporting the correct black painted “hockey stick” stripes followed by the proper SS 396 equipment. Such as a ducktail spoiler, blacked out valance panel, a subtle chin spoiler and cowl induction hood. All new badges where use from the “SS” emblem front and back, the “396” callouts and Camaro script on the front fenders. All stainless components were straightened and polished to add some flash to this beauty. New Soft-Ray tinted glass was replaced all around including all new weather stripping, sealing up nice and tight for those cruises down that road.
This Camaro was built to L78 Specifications, including the four bolt mains, forged rotating assembly and correct date-coded 1969 block (Number 3955272: stamped T1011JH, which decodes as a 396/375 HP 4 speed), ultra rare aluminum L89 heads - simply lightweight replicas of the high-performance rectangular port iron heads found on the L78. The carburetor is the correct Holley R4346 four-barrel with vacuum secondaries on a 163 intake manifold including correct and functional cowl injection set up. The attention to detail is spot on and shows from the hoses and clamps to the plating on the power brake booster. Under the hood you can find beautiful raw aluminum heads. The transmission is equally correct and accurately detailed Muncie 4-speed manual feeding a 12-bolt with 3.73 gears and a Posi limited slip. Every component on this chassis has either been powder coated or plated to match the original specs and any component not worthy was replaced. Even the inner fenders were powder coated satin black to match the original finish. The floors are new and are a perfect canvas for the very accurate undercarriage. The detail and craftsmanship continues to show from the decals and markings. For instance the tags on the springs telling assembly line workers which ones to use to the stripes painted on the drive shaft. The only note worthy deviation from stock would be the ceramic-coated dual exhaust system that features Flowmaster mufflers instead of the original transverse muffler system.
The interior is just as detailed and stunning; the standard black vinyl was restored just as accurately as the rest of the car. Every component is new from the headliner to the carpets and everything between the door panels. The gauges have been rebuilt and are bright and clear behind nicely polished lenses. Adding to the meticulous detail put into this restoration; even the original radio delete piece with the block off plate still intact. The four axillary gauges on the wood grained console have also been refurbished to new condition. The trunk was even painted with factory-style splatter-finish paint while featuring a correct trunk mat and matching spare tire with jack assembly.
