After a 14 year run (the longest in Corvette history), the 3rd generation or "Shark" bodied Corvette was coming to an end. To commemorate this event, the boys in Bowling Green decided a special edition was needed. So, the Collector Edition Corvette was introduced. And special it was, for a number of reasons! The first being its price tag. This was the first Corvette to have a base price in excess of $20k ($22,537.59 to be exact). The second was the introduction of the first electronic fuel injected engine in a Corvette. And the 3rd was an opening rear hatch (exclusive to the Collector Edition). All C.E.'s were painted a beautiful Silver Beige with a matching leather interior and mirrored, Bronze tinted T-tops. The wheels on the C.E.'s were a reminiscent of the '67 Bolt-ons that were an option that year. And all of them came pretty much loaded with just about every available option! Not a bad way to end an era!
If you were lusting after a brand new Collector Edition back in the day. But you just couldn't swing that $20k price tag, we've got just the car for you! Believed to have been purchased new by a GM executive back in '82 as a retirement present/investment. This C.E. was put away in storage until he finally decided to sell it a couple years ago. The second owner decided it needed to go to the next care taker shortly after, so it recently ended up at our door!
We've had a number of C.E.'s grace our showroom over the years, but I think we can safely say, this is one of, if not the nicest example we've ever seen! Having been driven just 397 miles since it rolled off the assembly line in Bowling Green 34 years ago, the car is a true time capsule. The only item's that have been changed are the battery and set of new BFG T/A's. Otherwise, it's basically untouched and looks it. The condition of the paint and interior reflect the car's 397 original miles and are in showroom condition. It starts right up, goes down the road straight, has excellent response and is a blast to drive! And to top it off, the car comes with every piece of original factory and dealer paperwork. It even has the original "Sold" tag from the selling dealer!
So, if you're still needing to fill that empty space in your garage (and heart) with an almost "new" Collector Edition Corvette, your wait is over!
Do not wait to bid, or to make an offer, on this 1982 Collector Edition Corvette, as it is also available for sale in our showroom and will move fast. For more information, you can send us a question through eBay or call/text, us on our cell phones at: Jeff (661-510-3486) or Troy (714-712-0060).
