1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS Restored Additional Info:
‘71 Camaro SS – Black exterior and interior with Black vinyl top. Original triple black car. Rotisserie restored, Real SS car. An original Air conditioned car (the compressor etc. are not installed but the parts come with car). Car has a new power brake booster installed and Brand new AM/FM stereo with speakers installed. Gorgeous Mirror finish paint with a Body that is laser straight. The car was completely disassembled. All of the suspension components, sub-frame, inner fender wells, rear end housing, and radiator support was sandblasted and painted. While on the rotisserie the underside was scrubbed clean by hand, it was decided to leave it with all its original red oxide paint and patina as it was original and in amazing condition and didn't warrant spraying. All of the bushings, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, calipers, wheel cylinders and brakes were replaced. The rear end was disassembled and new bearings, seals and a new Eaton posi-traction was installed. The factory 3:08 ring and pinion gear was re-used. The fuel tank was removed, sand blasted, painted with fuel tank paint and a new sending unit installed. Being a California car the only rust in the car was a quarter size hole in each side of the cowl behind the fenders and a dime size spot in the front bottom of the doors. The holes in the cowl were repaired. The door skins replaced (due to some wavy metal NOT Rust), New full quarter panels, rear tail light panel, and both fenders were replaced with new . The floor pans and trunk floor are rust free and were not replaced. The red oxide primer on the bottom of the car is factory original primer. The interior has been completely replaced including carpet, headliner, dash pad, console, front seat foams, rear package tray, door panels, and door sill plates. The drivers side window regulator is new. The factory gauge faces were disassembled, bead blasted, repainted with new gauge face decals installed. The mono speaker under the dash was replaced with a stereo speaker, a new AM/FM Stereo installed with iPod plug in adapter. A new vinyl top was installed, bumpers were re-chromed, all new trim around windshield and rear glass were installed, new badges and new rocker covers were put on. All weather stripping is new. The 383 engine was installed in the car before the previous owner purchased the car. The engine was disassembled down to a short block. Features: 383 Stroker Engine - New Edelbrock aluminum heads - Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carb, completion cam, timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, power steering pump, and alternator were installed. All of the coolant hoses were replaced with new. A new windshield wiper motor and washer pump and blower motor was installed. New Hedman ceramic coated headers, and new Flowmaster dual exhaust was installed. Transmission is the numbers matching Turbo 350. New 17x7 Coy wheels in the front and new 17x8 Coy wheel in the rear with new radial tires. The rear end gearing is the original 3:08. Horsepower is around 400. The restoration took approximately 4-5 years. The odometer in the car is original to the car. The car has less than 200 miles on it since restoration.
