1966 Chevrolet Impala Additional Info:
1966 Chevrolet Impala with Original Born With 396 and M20 4 speed. 85k miles, which I believe to be original after speaking to two previous owners. F41 Suspension with Pan Hard Rod, and Front and Rear Sway Bars, and 12 Bolt GM Rear End, Factory in dash Tachometer so it has all the goodies. Original Trim Tag on the firewall, and original Vin Tag in the door jamb. 12 Bolt rear end has 3.36's or 3.55's I cannot remember which, but they are not too low. Car is Torquey and very fun to drive, and cruises at 80 easily. I am in Dallas, where it is HOT....I added the correct style fan shroud and car does not overheat at all. Transmission has the factory shifter, and it shifts perfectly. Clutch fresh also. Dash clock is original to the car, but does not work. Black Paint and Black interior. Great color on this car! Bench Seat. Very original, and nice looking, and DRIVING car. 396 Was re-built recently, and was done so to stock 325 HP specifications. Correct Rochester Carburetor and Original Intake and Exhaust manifolds. Carburetor is freshly re-built, Oil is Fresh, as are the ignition points. Still has the original style canister style oil filter in place, with a new element. I just had the car's original starter with Cast Iron nose and AC markings re-built. Plugs fresh and gapped properly. Exhaust system is nearly new, and I just replaced the gaskets between the exhaust pipes and the Factory Exhaust manifolds. I also installed Brand NEW Eaton springs, front and rear. I specified Heavy Duty springs, and 1" higher in the rear. The ride is a little firmer than stock, (which needed to be a little firmer for my taste) and the car's stance appears perfect to my eye. Tires are 255/60-15's in the back BF Goodrich Radial T/A's and 215/70-15's in Front, on what appear to be 15x7" GM Rally wheels. The tires look great, and 255's are about as big as practicable on 7" rims. Car has NO rust, and apparently never has. Look at the undercarriage photos! Doors shut nicely, and the car is tight. AM / FM radio works well, as does the rear speaker located in the middle of the back seat. Dash warning lights work, EVEN the green one for the engine being Cold! Under hood and trunk lights with Mercury Switches work properly. There was a Barney Fife Mayberry RFD style spotlight on the car, and I removed it. Small hole in upper driver's side fender where the light was mounted, that I will have patched, as I dropped off the car today. Hole is small, not longer than one inch, and less than one 1/2 inch wide. Easy to patch, (we will weld it and not use any Bondo) and match the paint, as it is black, and has no metallic. Crack in grey plastic instrument bezel trip where light passed into the passenger compartment. I taped that off with grey colored tape, and it is not very noticeable now. That plastic piece could be replaced if you so choose. Interior is very nice. No rips or tears. Carpet looks great. Fun to drive. A VERY nice example! You will have to look long and hard to find a more original car that is this attractive, and has all the heavy duty goodies. I am sorry about the poor photos...the light was not right in the front or back of my home when I was trying to get the ad completed. Thanks for your interest. Please call 214-507-9441 if you have questions. Inspections are both welcomed and encouraged. No disappointments. Car is located near Love Field in Dallas, TX USA. NO solicitations and NO trades.
