1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Additional Info:
WellI'msure no expert on Chevelle's, but a neighbor of mine, had this 1968 SS 396 sitting idle in his garage for the last 20 years or so.(covered with boxes and junk).
I ended up with it, and nowI'mselling it.This is what I call a "Barn Find".
Here is what I cantellyou about the car, and as honestly as I know it...It's a genuineSS396, 4 speed Car. (138 v.i.n. code car).Theoriginalengine went bad, and was being replacedwitha 1970 396 V-8.The mechanic neverfinished it. He installed the engine, mounts, headders, transmission etc...Then it got parked-away into storage. It stillneedsthe exhaust hooked up, drive shaft installed, as well as the belts, fluids, and hoses etc.The engine is a 325 H.P 396 and is somewhat close to correct. ( 4-17-70 date code, but not numbers matching).
I believe the engine is rebuilt or low mileage. If the car does not sell as-is, I will take a weekend and put it back together and get it all up and running, and re-list it accordingly. If my grandson was a little older, this car would not be for sale. Its a bit of an un-finished project. The car is somewhat dirty and just how Ireceivedit. This car would make a neat daily-driver, or perhaps be a candidate for a full restoration one day. Just my thoughts. The trunk is full of spare and misc. parts. (It has the driveshaft, and a very nice exhaust system). Its sure not perfect and has its scratches and imperfections. I would much rather under-sell this car than have someone feel that it is something it is not, or feel this car was not accuratley and fairly described.I would say the floors, trunk, rockers, etc., are all excellent.I do notbelievethe car has ever been wrecked.
This car is over 48 years old and being sold "as-is".I would much rather you plan for the worst and hope for the best than to bedisappointedin anyway.
Remember though... this car has sat for the last 20 years and it is not currently running.I have a clear and open Colorado title for it.My opening bid is $12,500.00 with no reserve.I havetriedto take good photos to show its overall condition.Now... allthishaving been said... I can't imagine finding a more un-molested or a nicer 1968 SS 396, (genuine "138" car) like this for the price.
I only want the buyer to be as excited as I was when it came my way.I am honest and dependable, and the winning bidder can count on my help for an easy and smooth transaction...Thanks.Terms of sale...I can not ship..... This means I can not crate, box, disassemble, or deliver to a shipping company. I will however be more than happy to assist your shipper, however I can.
