1981 Chevrolet Camaro Additional Info:
1981 Yenko Turbo Z
First off, I have to say that I have no "official documentation for this car" so for those of you who want paperwork, please move on. I do not want to wasteanybody'stime. With that said, the reason for no documentation is because I was told that this very car was one of the few prototype cars that were made before production began. This car is very, very rare. It is actually one of a kind. This car is the only Yenko Turbo Z that has T-Tops and its a Stage or Phase II. This very car has been featured in at least two Super Chevy magazines in the early eighties. I have the magazines to prove it. The Super Chevy magazines have this very car pictured, with the California licence plates(that are still on the car) that match three of the former registrations I have as well as the cars VIN#, so there is no doubt that the car featured in the Super Chevy magazines is this actual car. I really doubt that Super Chevy would feature a car that was not legit. This is a true Yenko Turbo Z. This was Don Yenko's last effort before his untimely death in a plane crash.
As I mentioned earlier, this car is a Stage/Phase II. The 1981 Turbo Z also came in a Stage/Phase I. The standard equipment on a Phase I was a Turbo International Turbocharger, automatic trans., Stage 1 wheels and Yenko Turbo Z graphics with a base price of $11,300.
This car which is a Stage/Phase II car had all the equipment of a Phase 1 plus: Fully adjustable Kamp leather seats, leather competition steering wheel, Turbo Z floor mats (which I do not have), Koni Shocks, modifiedstabilizerbars, modular wheels and Goodyear Wingfoot tires. Base price was $17,500.
I bought this car from a very honest, strait forward guy about 15 yrs. ago. I never really had any plans to restore the car myself, however, the previous owner invested a lot of time and money into this car. The drive train has been rebuilt, except for the rear end. The engine is not the original engine. The previous owner bought a period correct engine, had it rebuilt and re-stamped. Its as close to the original engine as you will find. The turbo unit is brand new. By some strange stroke of luck, the previous owner came across the exact turbo unit that was used in these Turbo Z's, complete NOS from TurboInternational, bought it and had it installed.
I have a bunch of receipts from the previous owner totaling about $7500 for parts alone. The car looks a bit rough, but it is actually in very good condition. The interior needs the most work, but is complete. One good thing is that most of the parts for this car are still readily available pretty much anywhere online. The body has some small dents and dings here and there but no rust. I looked under the car too, and found no rust to speak of there either.
Folks, this is a diamond in the rough. I am reluctant to let the car go, especially for holing on to it for almost 15 years. This is a great project that would not take a whole lot of effort. I left the car untouched since I got it, just to show the original condition of the car for the future owner. I am going to be sorry to see this car go.
In closing, I must admit that I do not know a whole lot about this particular car, however, I will answer any questions I can as honestly as I can. Please ask questions prior to bidding!!! Good luck to all of you and thank you for taking the time to look at my auction.

I should also note, although the engine has been rebuilt, and it ran good before it went into storage, I have not attempted to start the car in a few years. The car also does not have any exhaust on it.
