Up for auction here is a really stout, 1975 Chevy one ton dually with a 4-speed manual transmission. This truck has an extended wheel base that would make it a great candidate for a large utility box bed, flat bed, or enclosed box truck. (The wheel base is 160”.) It looks like it still has the original engine in it, and according to the I.D. tag, it would be a 350 Chevy engine. The engine runs well and seems strong. It has a “Crower Racing Cams” sticker on the valve cover and a really nice Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, so I think the engine may have been rebuilt, or had some work done to it. It even has the optional Custom Deluxe package, which includes dual fuel tanks, instrument gauges instead of idiot lights and a few other options. The odometer says 28,076 miles on it, but since it starts over at 100,000 miles I would imagine it has gone over at least once.
The only thing that is a problem that I can think of is in the 4 speed transmission. It works fine, but it growls in 3 of the 4 gears. 1st gear really growls, but seems to work fine, and the 2nd gear growls a little bit less, and third even less. 4th gear doesn’t seem to growl and sounds ok to me. I drove it 50 miles to my house and did just fine. However, I think it is just a really worn transmission, and I would replace it if you were going to use it on the highway much. On the other hand, if you are going to just use it short distance around a farm, or for trips locally, you may be ok for a while. The good part is, I am including an extra transmission for it. The output shaft on the spare transmission is pretty worn, but although I have never heard the transmission in use in a vehicle, I was told by the previous owner that it operated and sounded fine. Stick it in the truck in place of the growling transmission (maybe replace the output shaft with a new one, or possibly use the one in the truck if it’s in good shape), and you should be good to go with a quieter transmission again for longer trips. Just add a box, flatbed, utility bed, etc., and you will have a really dependable, classic, heavy-duty work truck!
It comes with a clear title in my name. I will need a $200 deposit received within 24 hours of the close of the auction, and the balance paid for and the truck picked up within 3 weeks. Thanks for viewing this auction!
