1969 Tuxedo Black 350/350HP Corvette Convertible
You are bidding on a Rare TRIPLE BLACK 2 top Corvette convertible with black vinyl interior, a black soft top and a black vinyl hardtop. It has a numbers matching drive train with the highly desirable L46 option 350 cubic inch 350HP engine, and an M20 4 speed transmission and a 3:36 posi rear end.
WHAT makes this car RARE?????
It is a BLACK 1969 Corvette. Although there are no official production figures on colors. Most Corvette people use the 1968 black production number of 708 and increase it by the 27% additional Corvettes produced in 1969 to arrive at an estimate of 900 cars in tuxedo black. The trim tag has been verified by a few NCRS judges.
Using this base of 900 units and extrapolating the production number using the Black Book quantities by option.
The 350/350HP L46 option was only ordered on 12,846 (33%) of the Corvettes brings the number down to 300Only 824(2%) of the Corvettes had engine block heaters brings the number to 6Only 3,266 (20%) of the convertibles had vinyl covered hardtops brings the number to 1.243% of the Corvettes were convertibles. That means this is probably “one of one” ever produced.
This is a documented 6 owner car that was originally delivered by Dexter Chevrolet in Detroit, MI. The original owner kept it until 1986. We have copies of all of the remaining titles. We also have the NCRS shipping report. All of the information including many of the engine part numbers and date codes are included in a 3 ring binder.
The body panels appear original and the car has been repainted and still looks good, there are a few chips or spots that show minor repairs but overall it shows well.
The correct style factory side pipes were added by the last owner. He said the car has the original spare which looks like it may have never been used.
The interior is very original, the seats could use new foam, but the covers look good. The original soft top is still on the car, the back window is cracked and can be seen in the pictures. The vinyl covered hard top is in excellent condition for both the vinyl covering and the weather strips.
The frame is a very solid but typical Midwest frame with surface rust. The frame has undercoating which probably helped preserve it.
The car starts, drives and stops very good and shows that it has been maintained over its life. It has newer tires which add to the drivability.
We have posted many pictures of this car and encourage you to look at them and call us with any questions. This car is listed for sale on our website with an asking price of $42,990.
Talk about investment potential, the 1969’s are starting to get the pricing respect they deserve, and being a BLACK car buy it now while it is still a BARGAIN…….
