1987 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe R-10 Pickup. 2WD with Fuel Injected V8 and overdrive transmission. This is the only year in this style that came with fuel injection and having the 350 makes it more unique as most came with a 305. I have nothing to hide with this truck and the story goes like this: In 2015 I bought it at an estate auction of the gentleman who bought it new in 1987. It was rough but very solid and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it. Fortunately or unfortunately, I started to lightly restore it and things got out of hand. Interior is original with the exception of the dash pad which was cracked. I still have the original as well. New doors, fenders and rockers and rear bumper from LMC Truck. ALL other sheet metal is original along with all exterior parts. New shocks front and rear with air shocks in the back and new coil springs in front. Excellent rubber on Chevrolet wheels but they are not the original ones. I still have the original wagon wheels which came with the truck but just felt the ones on it look better. Truck body was sandblasted and repainted its original red only. Truck was originally two-tone with white on the bottom. It also had body side molding and fender trim that I didn’t replace due to personal taste I guess.
After all the above was completed I pulled it out of storage this spring and it was smoking quite a bit. After a lot of diagnosis, I decide to replace the engine and bought an original crate engine from JEGS performance. To date the engine doesn’t have 100 miles on it and has a full transferrable warranty. For the few times I have has this out, it has turned heads and gathered a lot of attention. These old trucks are growing more desirable for sure. This truck runs, drives and shifts awesome. With the work done to it, it drives like it is 1987 again.
This was just one of those projects that got out of hand. No matter what, my loss is your gain. I have way more invested in this than what I is worth and I realize that. Whatever it ends up selling at, I will be losing out. That said, I am a collector and do not need to the money per se. I am reasonable but not senseless so please don’t waste my time or yours with low ball offers as I don’t plan to give it away just for the sake of selling it. If it doesn’t sell I’ll just drive it as it’s currently registered. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks.
