1979 Chevrolet Nova Customized. Additional Info:
1979 Nova car from California. I found very little rust on this car when I got it. It was a running car that did not pass California emissions testing and previous owner was forced to sell.
I have had over 10 of this novas over the years and this one is my daily driver. It's not build for show but for fun. It has a LS1 5.7 aluminum block with rebuild 243 heads, LS6 intake, Comp Cam Thumper cam and lifter springs kit. The wire harness system is from Current Performance Wiring. The transmission is a fully rebuilt 4L60e. The engine has less than 3000 miles since rebuilt (block was machined 30 over and new pistons added). Engine is solid and very strong an easy to drive every day. It's dirty and there is a small power steering fluid leak (I have been too busy or too lazy to fix it). Every 2 to 3 weeks I add power steering fluid.
I got new gauges as per picture. Both the tach and speedometer signals are inaccurate, this needs atention. Oil, temp, and gas gages read accurately.
The car was a basic nova 305 engine to start. I got lucky and found a totaled 1976 nova rally with the bucket seats and console interior. To transfer the rally interior to my nova I took all mounting brackets off the Rally floor and, just as the factory did, I welded all brackets to my Nova. I had the upholstery done in good quality lether with front seats rebuilt with new foam. I spent 2k on the seats and interior parts. New headliner, new plastic interior panels, door panels are refurbished from the rally nova. New carpet.
Also from the Rally Nova, I was able to use the 8.5 rear end which I rebuilt with 3.73 gears, Eaton limited slip differential, new rear drum brakes and lines. All brand new bearing and seals were used. Also the rally nova came with the rear sway bar option. I cut the brackets off the bottom of the Rally and welded the brackets to my nova. The car now has the functioning rear sway bar. I did the necessary rust and body work repairs, the car has very straight side panels. Good quality 3M filler and epoxy primer were used. The factory hood was modified using a 69 Camaro hood. I cut off the cowl center of the Camaro and grafted it to the nova hood. It works well and looks factory. The hoods body work is not perfect but it could be perfected with not a lot of work to paint the car if needed.
The tires are in excellent condition and the wheels are new 15 inch Monte Carlo reproductions from Year One.
The car is painted satin black from Eastwood products. Not perfect but looks good. Some runs on the paint. If a different color is your choice, the car could be sanded, primed, and repainted without having to go to bear metal (I took the car to bear metal to get it to this point).
The undercarriage was stripped and painted semi gloss black. New exhaust system. Front chassis has all new rubber bushings, new 12" disc brakes. All new steering linkage components, and rebuilt close ratio steering box. All new polyurethane body mounts. New shocks.
No AC or Heater. Firewall was smoothed with the idea of a Vintage Air installation down the line. Very important to let you know that I did the necessary work to create clearance for the LS1 ac compressor and that the engine has the AC compressor all ready installed. Also, the serpentine belt on this car is not from a factory LS1 but from a factory GM 5.3 LM7 (truck engine ).
I have driven this car for the past 2 years without any problems (except the steering fluid leak)..
All serious offers will be considered.
Thanks for checking my car.
