1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Additional Info:

The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 stands alone at the top of the Chevrolet muscle car performance curve. Bowtie fans had a lot to be excited about at the dawn of the ‘70s with the debut of the largest and most powerful of the big-block Chevrolets in the LS6. This 454 CI engine carried a factory rating of 450 HP and a torque numbers of 500 lb-ft. In reality the horsepower was purposely underrated by the factory and it didn’t take long for the torquey beast to become a favorite of stoplight racers. This 1970 Chevelle LS6 was sold new at Christenson Chevrolet in Highland, Indiana, and still carries its original Protect-O-Plate. A bare metal restoration on the LS6 in 2010 looks mirror-deep in its Tuxedo Black and white-stripe Chevrolet muscle livery. Under the tell-tale Cowl Induction hood, the engine bay packs the original 454-cubic-inch V-8 finished to factory-production detail, including its original distributor and Holley 4-barrel carburetor atop a bare-aluminum combined with correct deep groove pulleys and exhaust resonators. The Chevelle puts down power through a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and Positraction-equipped 12-bolt rear axle with 3.31:1 gears. Power steering and power brakes deliver confident road handling. White stripes call out the functional domed cowl-induction hood and its signature ‘70s tie-down pins. The formal look of performance continues into the black interior with split-bench seat, original gauges and radio. A Comfortilt steering wheel delivers adjustable control and helps the driver put all that power to the ground. The Chevelle rides on a set of Super Sport correct Rallye wheels shod with reproduction Firestone Wide Oval tires. The odometer reflects a believed-accurate 53,490 miles.
