1971 Chevrolet 3/4 Ton Pickup Additional Info:

This is a completely restored and upgraded 1971 Chevy K20 4x4 longbed, regular cab pickup. It just underwent a complete nut and bolt, frame off restoration in 2025.The truck has an original GM bed that was rust free. The tailgate is new. I used factory doors that were repaired in the lower corners, because they fit like they should. One fender is original, the other is a replacement. The rocker panels are new and the roof inner panel at the sunvisors has been replaced (where they all seem to rust). It was a very clean truck to start with, which is unusual given the fact it is 4WD and they were all used for work in all types of weather. The frame was clean and straight. It has been sandblasted, epoxy primed and painted satin black. It has a Rough Country 4" spring lift kit installed. All the brake and fuel lines have been replaced. The fuel tank has been relocated to the rear frame rails from out of the cab. It has a custom fuel filler behind the driver's taillamp that flips down. The front and rear bumpers are new.The engine is a 2002 era LS 5.3 liter Chevy engine, stock. It is connected to a 4L60 overdrive transmission and a 1980's style transfer case. The front and rear 8 lug axles are also from a 1980's era square body, in order to get rid of the oddball front axles that were on the 1971 trucks. The engine and transmission use a brand new stand alone harness built by BP Automotive for the purpose. The factory GM computer has been flashed and tuned by a local tuning wizard that does excellent work. The truck runs very well and all the shift points are correct for this setup. The front and rear driveshafts are all new and custom built by Tom Woods Driveshafts specifically for this application. The truck has custom stainless true dual exhaust that empties in front of the rear wheels with a custom tip.The 16" chrome wagon wheels are new, as are the 265 Cooper tires. All the rake system is new. New calipers, new wheel cylinders, new shoes and pads, new return springs and hardware, new brake hoses, new emergency brake cables..... all new. New master cylinder and booster. The truck has all brand new Cheyenne exterior trim, new door handles and locks. The grill is new. The grill shell is new. The cowl hood is new. The wiper arms and blades are new.The truck is equipped with brand new Vintage Air.The truck has a new aluminum radiator. The hugger orange and bright white paint is basecoat/clearcoat from PPG.The interior seats are brand new from TMI interiors. It has a molded headliner with built in speakers. New carpet, new tilt column, new 14" steering wheel. New dash pad. New glass and all weatherstrips. The factory AM radio does not work. There is a Bluetooth input device under the console that connect to your phone. There is also a booster, passive EQ and powered 6" sub under the seat, as well as upgraded speakers in the headliner. The EQ is in the center console. The bed has spray in bedliner. There is no hitch. All new wiring harness from American Autowire.LED exterior lighting.4.11 gearsThe truck is undercoated and all repaired panels are coated inside with chassis saver for water proofing.
The truck is straight and extremely nice and 100% drivable with no drama. It gets about 15 MPG. The late model drivetrain makes it SOOO nice. I personally prefer using the factory computer and fuel injection over the aftermarket stuff. The truck has a check engine light mounted on the dash and an ALDL diagnostic connector, so diagnosis is the same as any 2002 GM truck. I still need to hook up the factory tach as soon as the adapter harness shows up.
Is the truck an all numbers matching, original paint, 100 point survivor show truck? Nope. Will it get trophies at a local show? Yup. Can you drive it every day and be proud and turn heads? Absolutely.
We worked our butts off on it, so it's not cheap, but it is a lasting, usable piece of art.
Pictures of how the work progressed from start to finish available to the buyer.
