1970 Nova SS 396, true L-78 396/375 car, currently has a 468 ci 4-bolt main full roller engine, with less than 500 miles on it. Brand new Tremec TKX 5-spd trans with Tilcon hydraulic clutch. The car has the original 12 bolt rear end with 3.73 gears and a Moroso Brute Strength differential, C-clip and crush collar eliminator kits. The car had a full rotisserie restoration in 2001 and was then stored in a climate controlled garage until 2023. The car has all the original body panels, including floors and trunk. The car has never been driven in the snow, nor was it ever rusted. I have the original POP (Protect-O-Plate).
Over $140,000 was spent to get this car to this level. No expense was spared, the car is laser straight and never hit, or in an accident. The car is very streetable and has very good road manners. I was told the engine puts out somewhere in the neighborhood of 525-550 HP. The power comes on strong and predictable.
The 468ci V8 reportedly features four-bolt main bearing caps. The following components are said to have been fitted:
Top right on the POP. It reads backwards, but it's T0212CKO. T = Tonawanda engine plant, 02 = February, 12 = 12th day, CKO = 396/375 HP with manual transmission. This fits with the Fisher Body build date of 02C (Feb - 3rd week) on the cowl tag.
