Vehicle Details
This is a very rare 1957 Authentic Army Staff car, it is a 150 4 door sedan, Blue Flame 140-235 cubic inch 6cyl with a 3 speed on the column, radio and clock delete, I believe about 3000 of these were made by Chevrolet, there is a very nice detailed example on a site called inside the chieftains hatch Chevrolet 1503. At a recent rock island auctio, one of these sold for $46,000, of course this is not that car, but one factor was they claimed it to be only 1 of 3 known surviving military 150's. These were used on Army bases into the 1960', they included 2 luxury items, a heater and a cigarette lighter. The few of these that did not get shipped overseas, were donated to high school shop classes once the military were finished with them. From there they were to be crushed, which means didn't many survive. This car needs and I have decided it deserves to go to someone with the financial means to do a frame off restoration. This is a rare piece of US Military Americana and deserves to be restored and put on a display for people to enjoy. This car does run and it will move on its own power BUT to be drivable needs a new fuel tank, brakes and a complete exhaust. The rear glass is good, the rest is cracked, the windshield was filled with silicone around the low trim to prevent leaking I suppose, it has had floorpan work, it has filler in the passenger front fender and the passenger front rocker. Doors all close good and they are tight. The car shows what appears to be 49,623 original miles, the odometer numbers aren't staggered like they do when they roll over. There is a little rust through in the trunk pan as pictured. Car was painted with a jeep color and us army put back on it from what was traced off of its original paint. Only done in an effort to save it from rusting and to preserve what it is. It has brand new tires, dash has been repainted and a good driver military replica sticker placed exactly where the original one was. This car is located 45 miles NW of Atlanta GA. Now, in Georgia, cars under 1985 are not issued a title, with that being said, this car will come with the following once a deposit is made and pickup arrangements are made, a legal bill of sale which can be notarized, and a recent State Of Georgia Registration. With these documents, you can obtain a title in your State, I'm not arguing this, I have done it befor, your State must honor Georgia Law. Again Car really needs and deserves the right restoration. There is a reserve fair price, my daughter wants a 57 but she really needs an automatic and we don't want to alter this car because of it's history. Side trim has screws holding it on, there is almost another complete set in the trunk. Serious bids only please ask any questions prior to bidding, again I realize this isn't the car that sold for $46,000 but it's one like it. Thanks for viewing my auction.
