FOR SALE

1965 CHEVY NOVA 4-DOOR SEDAN

(Long Story)

ENGINE: The car was a 6 banger converted to a V8 years ago prior to me buying it in February 2023. Runs great, unknown miles. It sports a 1968 Chevy small block 307. I installed an Edelbrock 1406 4 bbl. Carb. & an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. I was told the cam is an Edelbrock performer camshaft kit 2102.. very mild. I installed one of my newer HEI distributors. The engine had an oil leak so I installed a new summit timing set, new pan gasket/timing gasket and valve cover gaskets. New Valve covers. Has a good full-sized starter, new fuel pump, fresh coolant, fresh oil and filter. Engine starts easy, no smoke emitting from the exhaust. The engine interior and pan were very clean, really needed an oil change. I drilled and tapped the crank snout to be able to bolt the balancer to the crank (had a press-on balancer work its way off when I was a kid), thus the bolt.

COOLING SYSTEM: I recently installed a large full width 3 row aluminum radiator with a manually operated 14” electric fan. It has the short water pump with a stock fan, New upper hose, thermostat and chrome stat housing. Cools Great.

ELECTRICAL: I upgraded the wiring to accommodate for the heavy alternator, distributor and fan. I installed one of my 65-amp Delco 10-SI Alt with the associated heavy wiring to the battery. The electrical load now goes directly to the battery and not through the stater lug. 10 ga. Wiring to the HEI through a relay under the dash, a large Fuse protects the whole system. A lot of the original wiring (idiot lights etc.) is still there but cut and terminated in the main loom. Looks very clean. The reverse lights are operational. The lenses have been rehabbed. The license plate light has been restored and now works. The interior curtesy light works (new switch, bulb and lens). Horn ring assy. has been cleaned and the horn system works well. The glove box light works. Stop, running, parking lights work. Dash lights work. The AM radio works but the antenna is faulty. Neutral safety switch works. Kill switch also.

EXHAUST: The engine has existing “Sanderson” block hugger headers. A whole new 2-1/4 inch full length (past the rear tire) exhaust system has been fabricated. It was made from a Speedway DIY kit. I used Summit 12” glass packs to Walker 13” short turbos. A crossover tube is installed under the trans before the glass packs. Good tone but really quiet! The system is coated with VHT high heat gray paint.

TRANSMISSION/DRIVE LINE: Has the Chevy Power Glide transmission that came with the car. The pan had minimal stuff in the pan. I replaced the pan gasket, filter and fluid. New output shaft seal. New kickdown linkage using small Heim joints (works great). Shift linkage repaired and adjusted, works like it should. Speedo cable freshly lubricated. Driveshaft was removed, cleaned and painted, repaired the rear u-joint crushed fitting so the joints can be lubed. The trans shifts really firm and the kick-down system works great. Diff has good fluid. It operates smoothly and quietly. Appears to have fresh axle seals (by the previous owner). The diff gear I think is a 3:08

FUEL SYSTEM: New Fuel tank, new fuel sending unit, new straps, bolts and cushions. New 3/8 fuel line kit (in-line tube) correct V8 placement, new fuel pump, new clear fuel filter before the carburetor. Carburetor has been cleaned out (ultra sonic cleaned). Starts and runs well, experiences heat soak issues (typical Edelbrock stuff).

BRAKES: All new brake lines (in-line tube), new rubber lines. New master cylinder Up graded to 1967 split master cylinder style. All Drum brakes. All new front brakes, shoes, cylinders, hardware and drums, all auto adjust. Hubs/bearings were sonic cleaned, new seals fresh bearing grease and new cotter pins. Fairly fresh rear brakes with fresh axle seals.

SUSPENSION: All new shock absorbers. Has Factory front suspension: Replaced right front upper ball joint (moog) and all strut rod cushions (poly urethane). Fresh grease in all front-end fittings. Adjusted caster, camber and set toe in to factory specifications. Original rear suspension operates quietly no squeaks. Car drives straight and stops straight. Manual steering and manual brakes.

INTERIOR: The interior is clean. Newer carpet, driver quality door panels, nice headliner. The seats have seen better days. The rear seat is stained and shows signs of starting to tare. The front seat has a major tear in the middle and has a set of cheapy blue covers to make it look a little bit cleaner. The front seat was bent back and the seat pad made you feel like you were a little old lady driving home from Church. I repaired the seat back and added foam and some supports underneath so now you sit upright and firmly (like a human should). The dash is a nice blue vinyl padded dash. The instrument panel is stock. Gas gauge works, idiot lights are nonfunctional. Speedo works great.. I think it needs a different gear to correct the error. I lubed the speedo head and cable and it works smooth and quiet. Lights work, signals work, parking lights work. Gear indicator works, wipers work, W-Washers are in progress, heater works (motor is Noisy). Factory radio works.. needs a new antenna. It has a set of under dash gauges that are functional (Temp, oil, volt)

EXTERIOR: Clean bright driver quality paint job, looks like the windshield rubbers have been replaced. Door gaskets look like some have been replaced (good to fair). The factory trim is there (driver quality). The basic body is in great shape. The underneath was undercoated and did a lot in protection of the floor The previous owner did minor rust repair to the trunk drip rails and appears to have done some rocker work.

WHEELS AND TIRES: the car has chevy 15 inch rally wheels with poverty bow tie caps, 5” in the front and 7” in the rear. All the wheels are 5 lug (factory). The tires are a little tall for my liking. But that what came with the car when I purchased it

All in all, this is a nice driver. I have all the receipts. I did all the work to keep this car as my daily runabout. Made it safe and reliable for me. The only reason for selling is a Nova wagon came into the picture that will be my keeper. So, I have to sell this to make room for the new car. My loss/your gain. Thank you. This car is 58 years old. Not perfect but a nice clean driver.
